Hi Sean

Welcome to the forum - you will become an addict to it's information that is for sure. With regards to spares I would try a few other Ducati Dealers in the UK first, Ducati Manchester are my local guys and as a visitor I find their spares advice really useful and keen to help.

With respect to further info on your bike why not contact Ducati in Panigale direct with your vin numbers and bike details I am sure that they would of been involved with such a limited supply they may even have it on their Data Base, infact I would also contact Ferrari also as they may be interested - who knows maybe yours was a "toy" for a prospective F50 owner maybe 1 of 150 they purchased and supplied?

Also check you vin frame/engine number with the list on here regarding Bike number/totals made.

I have seen a couple of 907's with the Ferrari stickers (Prancing Horse) but to be honest they looked like aftermarket ideas.

Personally I reckon you have a unique bike probably dealer/supplier fettled and placed on the market for sale - if you remember the early 90's was a boom time for bike dealers making money out of cheap grey imports and at that time Ducati was famous for being a rich mans toy because it was so overpriced.

I think you will find plenty of spares available for your 750 with only the infamous tyre choice being the problem, folk on here will give you names and numbers and some parts are also now being fabricated I believe, just don't pay some of those silly ebay prices that seem to be creeping in.

regards

Stiv

I guess it will be very hard to get from Ducati any answer about.
We don't manage to have any answer about the 750 tyres because, above all, they are interested to sell the bikes.
Often, the handbooks written by the Ducati's guru (as Fallon) are much more useful than the Ducati's infos (when there are them).
No matter, I agree: it's hard thinking about no agreement beetween Ducati and Ferrari.
And, I'm amazed here there isn't any friend here who don't have one of those 149 Ducati/Ferrari, if they really were built.
Ciao

Stiv,

Thanks for the welcome. I did try Ducati Manchester as I have dealt with them before. They supplied several parts a couple of years ago for the 907 and I found them very good at that time. Unfortunately, now they say anything before '93 they do not have info on, but if I supplied a part number they would order it. I would have thought this would be one of the core services of a main dealer? Anyway, looks like Mdina Italia will supply the parts and are helpful. For the 907, when I found suppliers or solutions I put them on 907 Tech FAQ. They only way to keep bikes running is to share the info we have.

I will first get the history of the bike from DVLA, a service they provide online I believe. Then will try your suggestion of Ducati in Panigale (Googled Ducati Panigale but got loads on bicycles and clothes but nothing on bikes? Where are they located?). Will also have a go at Ferrari. Given that they have been more stable corporately for longer so may have better records.

My real concern is that If I have a real unique special edition, then obviously I would have a greater responsibility to preserve it. This I have done already to some extent by taking an ebay lot that nobody really wanted as it was a non runner and got it back up and running so that now it is in a good state mechanically and is reliably.

Yes, the Ferrari stickers do look like someone just stuck them on so chances are that the bike was a stock machine with a few mods and some stickers. Easiest thing to mod would be to chip the ECU which may be the only difference.

Its true what Francesco says about Ducati only wanting to sell new bikes. Certainly their dealers seem to want to go down the lifestyle side of the bike thing with little real technical backup. This is fine provided they are happy to loose these customers as soon as there is a problem. See what is happening to Harley Davidson sales! Ducati dealers also do not seem to be knowledgeable about the bikes technically. I wonder how many of the Ducati dealers staff are life long enthusiasts?

Thanks Jon.

I can send you the chassis and engine numbers if that would help.

Sean

the email address I use for Ducati is = contact_us@ducati.com

The address is

Customer services
Ducati Motor Holding Spa
Borgo Panigale - Italy

the following names in Italy were given as " of 907 interest " Although I think it may of been in hope rather than fact still they may have some passion for this breed of bike along with the old Bevels that they seem to specialize in? Marcello Peruzzi, Fratelli Pirini, Motorsport Monstagna, Giuseppe & Unmbert Serraino, details in the link below and and finally Mario Sassi Oldracings Spare Parts. Via Ripa, 3. 42013 Cassalgrande- reggio Emillai - Italy web link here= http://www.oldracingspareparts.com/

and if Jon doesn't mind me adding this here is a link to some other useful names it is a little out of date and obviously relates to an earlier Ducati standard but who knows? Most of the details I believe are correct - I have no doubt those of us from Italy on here will add a more personal retrospect of the names above if they have dealt with them..

Thats an interesting bike. Maybe I should use it as evidence for an insurance valuation?

Apologies for being off line, unfortunately work is getting in the way of life at the moment. The weekend was not productive, only getting some oil for the 750 and some new of keys cut for it.

I have had a look at my registeration document for the 907, and that states that the bike was registered (as a new vehicle) on Feb. 8th 1995.

Also, the chassis number is 001930, and the engine number is 001911

I havent had time yet to look at the EPROM.

I have however e-mailed ducati to see if they can give any info.

Thanks for all your help. This forum makes Ducati ownership so much more interesting.

One quick question, the generator nut. Official docs I have downloaded from here do not mention tightening it. Is it necessary, how often and to what torque. As I am about to change the oil, it would be a good time I guess if it is needed.

Regards

Sean

Sean

That was registered late for the 907ie my last Monster was older than that, looks like it was an grey import possibly? And just for the record regarding your chassis mine is 53 higher than yours and registered October 92 which also means I was 2 shy of having that same plaque if it was a batch of 150  My engine is 78 higher than yours and a spare engine that I have from another 93 registered Paso numbered 2072 !!? Your bike does have the euro tail light fitted, are there any holes in the rear fender where there may of been indicator stalks from possibly a States side destined bike?

Do you mean by Generator Nut this.

http://www.ducati-john.co.uk/alternator ... ng-nut.htm

You will get a good idea of the spec from those in the know on here if not give John a call he is one of the most helpful private Ducati Mechanics you will find in the UK and luckily only about three quarters of hour drive away from me

Stiv,

I would guess that if the bike was a grey import it would not be registered as a new vehicle, it would be declared as having been registered abroad. Also, the speedo has a ducati MPH sticker put over the speedo which is now starting to peel. This was done at the factory, originally you would not be able to tell. This would say that the bike was originally for an imperial market, UK, US, Australia.

As for tail unit, no holes anywhere for mounting indicators.

Will contact Ducati John for alternator torque settings. I have seen his website before. You are lucky to have a good workshop near you.

Sean
