Anyone know if an ignition switch from a 94 - 98 Ducati 900 SS are compatible with my 750?
Mainly if there are the right amount of wires AND if it will bolt on. I'll have no problem cutting and attaching the wires if it is compatible. I just don't want to dis-assemble my ride before I have to.
Thanks all - Ethan

Ethan, Yes, the switch will work. the spacing of the tabs is just a little bit different, but the function of the switch is the same. A little bit work with a Dremel tool of rat tail file will get the mounting screws to fit. the top of the switch may not be flush to the top of the triple clamp, but good enough to go.
The connector is the same, so it will plug right into your older wire harness.
I have a spare in my garage if you want one. I'll be going for a ride on Saturday, and could come by. It might cost you a drink or so.
cheers,

you tried that on a Paso or on your Sport ? I had one which was from a Supersport, too if I remember well and that didn`t fit. Maybe it could have been made to fit, I didn`t look into that any further. Fixing the old one seemed easier.

I have a Sport, but put a Paso front end on it. I put an early model SS switch in it. The steering lock doesn't reach far enough to work, but everything else does.
Later model ignition switches had a different connector.
In another chapter of the wackiness of Ducati, they made the switches different between the Paso and the Sport, but only very small differences. Considering the amount of bikes they were rolling out the door (not many) why would you spec out 2 switches with such a minor difference? The only differences between the Sport and Paso was the travel of the steering lock peg, and the overall height of the switch. Every bike is truly unique.

DuckintheBay,
The factory would have fitted what was received from their supplier; would be very doubtfull that they actually changed specs. Back in the '70s you got this sort of difference between identical models, never mind differences between Sport/Paso. Cheers, Fraser.

The switch on the 750 and 750Paso and 906 and 907 are all different, but mount and function the same. Like has been stated before May not fit the same way in your top tree but all should work. It really is not a big deal to fix them and all have the same issues.
