Dear All,

Do any of you happen to know the correct part number for Carrillo rods that fit our 750
Paso engines? I've only found references to 750 Pantah engines and I'm not sure that they are the same, i.e. CAR044 which, according to Carrillo, is a Wiseco reference number.

Many thanks,

Mark

The 750 Paso is a "Pantah" engine.

I have no idea about Carillo rods tho...

Hi Jon,

I think most of us are aware of the fact that our Paso engines belong to the "Pantah" variety. I just want to ensure that I order the correct rods with an oil channel before forking out USD911.50 plus USD77.50 for the setup charge...

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,

I have Carrillos in my engine.
Unluckily I don`t have their model number, but I do have the measurements.
The upper opening diameter for the piston connecting bolt is 18mm, the lower opening for the crankshaft is 40mm. Length measured from mid opening to mid opening is 124mm. Conrod width top 22.2mm, bottom 21.95mm.
Generally as far as I know conrods for 500, 600, 650, 750cc Ducs (excl. 748) are all the same.

G.

PS: if I hadn`t been lucky to find a pair for the price of one I`d probably bought CROWER conrods as they are strong, lightweight and a good piece cheaper than Carrillos.

Many thanks Gerhard!

I managed to speak with Pistal earlier today and as they don't have 90mm pistons for our Ducs in stock I was told to buy them from:

If I'm not mistaken the pistons cost about EUR300.- each.

Regarding the cylinders, they told me to send them to:

I have no idea what Gila will charge but will advise as soon as I know more.

Maybe it's cheaper to buy a kit from BCM in the US?

Cheers,

Mark

Mark,

I searched the internet and some sources I know and the "cheapest" 780cc kit I found was at Ducati Gowanloch in Australia (that`s € 816,- while most shops sell them for € 1.100-1,200,-)
http://www.ducati-gowanloch.com/new_arrivals_2.htm

The 780cc kit I have on my bike is actually one for SS/Monster. The only difference between this and a kit for Sport/Paso is that the cylinders are oil cooled (they have smaller cooling fins) so the engine case needs a small modification otherwise one of the oil channles in the cylinder is covered.

FBF (Fast by Ferracci) had 90mm pistons once, not sure if they still sell them.

G.

I have just installed a big bore kit in my Multistrada. I purchased the pistons from Duc shop in Atlanta, GA for $475.00. These are 98MM Pistal pistons, 11.5:1 compression. I sent the cylinders to Millenium Technology for the boring and plating process. This is the shop that BCM and others use here in the USA. They normall charge $445.00 for this service but I got set up as a dealer and they discounted the service to $315.00.

The Pistal pistons are a work of art. Nicely made, very light with a teflon pad on the skirt to reduce friction.

I'm just about ready to start it up!

With the weakness of the dollar you will save some decent money by buying here in the USA if you can.

I have been told that Feracci uses Wiseco pistons for the FBF brand.

Hi All,

I spoke to BCM on Tuesday and was referred to the Duc Shop - really nice and helpful people to speak with and the Duc Shop responded within less than 12 hours! They contacted Pistal in Italy who told them to tell me to buy the kit from Europe...

Given the fact that family and friends live in the US, I work for a US company and travel there quite a lot I'm going to order and buy the Pistal pistons in the US somehow, especially if they cost around USD500.- for a pair rather than EUR300.- each...

I'll keep you posted...

Cheers,

Mark

It's not so expensive. You have them shipped to a US buddy and he mails them to you. They mark the paperwork with a $$value that is low and then check the GIFT box! They will come thru free of duty and vat then or a very low amount. Don't ask how I know this.....

Remembewring, that if its "gift", then value must be UNDER 30€. Now i am talking about "gift" from USA to FINLAND. Anyway, there acn be also other rules in other EU countries, but i have seen, that no matter dollar is weak, its still quite expensive to buy goodies from USA, cause also shipping coast are very high over seas...... :smoke:

I have to confirm what Antti told.
It isn't so easy evade the customs duty.
I also tried to make putting "gift" on the parcel, but the surveyors are smart now, so they can ask the buy note, or so.
I found out it's better to put a small value, as 20 €., which is under the customs franchise.
If someone has some better tip, let us know  .
Ciao

Is it the big bore kit you fitted on your bike?
Have you Dynoed your bike?
I wonder,what's the power improvement.
Ciao
