The swingarm has space enough to fit a 180/60 tire, and to fit this tire the manufacturers advise a 5 inches rim like a Paso. I have no checked but I think is necessary to add any whashers to separate the rear sprocket.
The 150/80 tire runs good but has any problems: to inflate it you need an inner tube, this tire is very thin and when you drive in twisty roads you feel the tire portion on the road is minimal and when you drive hard this portion dissapears suddenly, you need a 14 teeth front sprocket because this tire is very high and the 5th gear results very long.
To legalize this tire sizes you must go to your nearest ITV station and ask for it. If they say these tires are compatible you can fit them. If you need an engineering certificate you can call to Idiada company (http://www.idiada.es). I think they have a subsidiary office in Vigo. I called them to legalize my XR supermotard and I had to send them a copy of technical card (ficha tecnica) and a desciption of the original tire sizes and new sizes. New sizes must to have a bigger speed code and loading code than original ones. After this you have TO PAY +/- 150 € and in few days you recieve a certificate. With it you go to the ITV and they write new sizes on your technical card (and PAY another time).
I'm sorry if this post is boring our Pasofriends from another countries , and I'm sory because my english level is very bad, but I improve it in this forum enjoying with my Pasofriends.
DCT906 if I can help you, just to call me

P.d: I'm working in a17 wheels conversion, when I'll finished it I'll put the information and photos on the forum

Well...if your fifth gear gets long with the 150/80,then my sixth will not work at all! Thanks for all the info, and sorry to all non-spanish if this questions got them bored.

My '88 has been off the road for several months now, due to lack of a rear tire. The good news is I scored one at Mid Ohio VMD while cruising the swap meet last weekend. I couldn't believe how fortunate I was. Of course it's an NOS Michelin M59 160/60-16, but it seems to be in good condition, no cracks etc.

At least now I can go for the occasional ride, until one of the vintage tire makers comes to the rescue. As someone else on another thread mentioned, the Michelin Customer Service rep here in the U.S. has no clue as to whether or not they will ever make more. (She was polite, but ignorant.)

Michelin has a tire for the GoldWing, a Pilot GT, size 160/80-16, will this one fit in the Paso 750?

I'm told that tire is too tall to fit a 750, i.e. the overall diameter interferes with the swingarm at the pivot, especially if you consider some growth occurs as the tire heats up.

The 80 aspect ratio means that the nominal section height of the tire is 128 mm, whereas the correct tire is only 96. This means the overall diameter is nominally increased by 64 mm. Not sure how this affects the rolling radius, but certainly it will raise the rear of the bike significantly.

Someone elsewhere (earlier in the thread?) fitted one by modifying the swingarm. Not sure what he did. In my search, I came across a Pirelli scooter tire that may fit, but it's considerably smaller in section (140/70X16) and is speed rated for only about 90 mph.

I found on the Pirelli site a tire: Pirelli Sport Demon, 150/70-16; they say a sporty tire for medium powered sport-touring bikes; only 9 mm higher than the original 160/60-16. I think it is worth trying.

I'm still working on my Paso 17 project. Actually she looks like that:

When I'll finish her, I'll prepare a big post with all the history of this Paso, starting with my long voyage to buy her. At the moment you can see the project at my local forum:

I've finished my Paso last weekend, except for the front mudguard. I'm waiting a carbonfiber one of a 748. With 120/60-17 and 160/60-17 tires the handling is very good. This fork is shorter than the stock one and I was worried about the stability at high speed. Saturday I went to my favourite twisty road and the bike felt so good, solid as a rock. I proved 160 kms/h curves with complete satisfaction. Another day, on the highway, I'll do a top speed test.
