I have normal 15/38 in my 750 Paso, what feells quite nice to me(not tuned engine) and in my 907IE there is 15 in front(cause very difficult to find 14 from here) and rear is much bigger 45(from small 620 Monster), cause that my 907 engine is tuned with quite many improvments over normal engine. I have seen, that normally near all Ducatis after 906(after 1990) have geared too long to meet noise and emission standarts. FIRST Easy/good/cheap modification to Ducatis are one teeth smaller to front, or 3-6 bigger to rear. Surely that bigger to rear is good to do same time, as U change chain also. If counting alot, then bigger to rear is better, than smaler to front. But i think, its hard to find smaler Z=14 to Pasos and 907
Most ST owners have changed they sprockets to shorter gearing and very many changed 14 to front(15 is normal and that 14 is easy to find from many shops to ST).
I think, if U convert to 17" wheels, then better first test with normal gearing and then go on.... But surely 17" converions changes things. I havent done that yet to my 750 Paso (i have near all needeed stuff), so it can be, that 750 Engine needs shorter gearing, than 906/907/900SS, cause not so much power.... Btw, i like very much that shorter gearing in my tuned 907IE, cause front wheel feels sometimes very light, when put 2 gear on and turn handgrip down
Ported heads, FIM chip(tuned with flat top), FIM AMB, light flywheel, light 48 teeth STM clutch, open airbox with K&N, open pipes,.... and my neibours love..... :funny:
