Next week I will be picking up a very clean but not running 88 Blue 750 Paso.(Can be seen on Paso for sale in ct on the for sale site here.) I always liked the Paso, know of some of its problems. Bike has spark and gas but will not start, I'm hoping the carb just needs a cleaning. So am I nuts? Right now I have a 77 Guzzi LeMans all over my garage that I am putting back together. I really do not need another project bike, but the price was right and the bike is very clean. What are some of the normal must do upgrades? I know about the Carbs but what other things that are on the must do list? When I get the time, really got to get the LeMans together. :toofar: So anyway are there any most do upgrades? Thanks |

Welcome Sprintex :thumbup: , it all depends on what you mean for upgrade. If you want only the bike works smoothly, keeping her in original shape, or you want make some major change on her. So, you have to clean the carb and tune it (stock Weber?) but you can also swap it to a couple of 36 Dellorto or Mikuni: the bike will run very well. Besides, you have to check and clean all the wires and electric connections (above all the ground), as well as you can upgrade the electrics adding some relay on it (see at the FAQ sticky thread). Those are the main things you have to do on your Paso. Let us know for any problem. Ciao |

Just looking for a smooth running bike right now, it is all stock. Stock Weber. Owner said bike ran well, had some jetting work done. But would not start after being parked for three years. He did use a gas stabilizer which I have had good luck with for long term storage. It has spark so the carb is suspect. |

If you have the spark, the only issue can be in the fueling. Check the fuel pump, the filter, the hoses and clean very well the carb: there are many solvents to do it. Let us know. Francesco |

Thanks for the advice. Yup there are all sort of toxic chemicals to clean the carbs. |

Even if spark plugs can look good and they can work sparking in the open air, they're not sake from troubles. Are they wet when you take them out of the heads? If they're, the fuel can reach the engine, but doesn't fire up, this might mean fake plugs or, moreover, fake fuel. Is it entirely new? some residue of old fuel can need some time to be washed out of the engine... an they can compromise the plugs. |

Pick up the bike today. Got home and drained the gas,stripped it down off the side panels and tank and removed the air filter. I tried to remove the top of the carburetor to clean out the float but after I removed the three screws but it would not move and I did not want to break the gasket. I removed and clean what I could. Tried the starter button and whoa it fired right up shooting and bunch of sunflower seeds out the mufflers. So I put the tank back on hooked up everything and it would not start. Put in some new plugs and it fired up with choke but it will not idle with out the choke on and then its at about 3000 rpm with the choke on. I left the air-filter off (KN) but I would not think this would make any difference. It most be in the carburetor just have it figure how to get it apart. |

You have two fuel filter to clean and one to replace. Clean the tank filter at the fuel cock, and the one on the carburator at the fuel line entry point. Then check the idle jettings for dirty. the last thing that may not work well is the fuel pump. Then close the two fuel screw on the weber (the two big ones wit the spring) and open both ones by 720°. This gives you a good start point (mixture will be slightly rich) to set the weber properly. |
