I need a new alternator ![]() If someone has an other option I would be keen to hear that as well. While were on it. Would i have caused the melt down with my 100w head light? The mechanic doesnt seem to think so. He said the insulation on the armature breaks down because it spends a lot of it's life submersed in hot oil and they were not a good quality unit to start with. A good after market or rewound unit will be better. But the rewinder said as soon as you start changing things you are pushing it. And that if the system could run a 100w bulb then they would have put one in at the factory. If I think about it like that, we only have 300 to 350w to start with. So if I send 100w to the head light alone that only leaves about 200w for all the rest. However I think the original bulb was 50/75 and I think I have a 75/100 in there now, with relays at the front. As I seldom ride at night I am really only pulling 75w which should be in spec. (Sorry I'm thinking as I go here) Cheers M |

I know from my 907, that when i fit dual headlight with 2 x 55W on, it start to drain current from battery, what causes such thing, that cant start anymore hot engine after driven 1 hour! BUT to my bike didnt happen any failure to regulator, or to generator, only too much current from battery, cause generators have to do very hard job in 907, caused by injection... 907 have too small generator. I solved that problem to add one switch to light system, that no need to use hole time both 55W bulbs, only, when really needeed... I have added also 2 realys for helping low and high beam currents, but that is totally another thing, nothing connect to this "generator problem". ![]() Anyway i think, that 750 Paso use only small amount of current(carbied engine), so You have to check Your system, where is that problem...... I quess, that You only loose that generator from old age, if Your regulator is ok? |
