Post subject: | Two Different Paso 750 Frames |
Gerhard (paso750) and myself have both noticed this over the last few weeks......there were at least two Paso 750 frames used. ![]() We both noticed recently that pictures of two different bikes had spacers used to mount the grab bar on the back. I now have at least one frame of each in my posession.... On my 1987 Paso 750, the grab bar is mounted directly to the frame. The frame also extends far enough to the rear of the storage compartment, that it clears the sides of the compartment... On my recently acquired 1988 frame, there are spacers used to mount the grab bar, the rear cross-member of the frame goes through the storage compartment, and the storage compartment area has curved cut-outs on either side to make clearance for the frame rail... Taking a measurement between the gas tank rear mounting bracket and the rear of the frame, I get a 2-3 cm (about 1 inch) difference in frame lengths. The 1988 is definitely shorter. It looks to be that it is only in the rear-most section of the frame, so the passenger footpegs and the slip-on mounting positions are not affected. I haven't taken any other measurements, so I don't know if there are any other differences or not. Gerhard said he has seen a couple of other differences, also. I just thought this was interesting and that I should share it with others here. ![]() |

Terry what I noticed were small differences on some parts. i.e. there seem to be different lower triple clamps. The upper one is from my bike, the second one came with a fork I bought from a broken Paso. Other parts that seem to exist in slightely different variants are the rear grab rail and the small rear fender. G. |

Yeah, my 88 has the spacers and rail going over the top of the toolbox. Also, I have two different side panels (the ones with "paso 750" on them) - the lower/front edge in front of the vent has a raised half round in the panel - starts out shallow in the red part and gets deeper as it goes into the black. I wonder if its off a 906/907 ? Tony |

Yes, I can take photo's It's the right hand side (the ridge in the panel follows the line of the clutch cover) Just wonder if this is normal to give some space between the inside of the panel and the clutch cover ? Its definitley different from the left side cover. Tony |

so you just mean that left and right panel are different ? As far as I remember that`s normal. What was mentioned so far are differences on the same parts. G. |

here`re 2 rear fenders (the dirty one is the one that came off my P750, the other one was bought new but does also have a different part No. 56110051A instead of 0370.74.400) edit: after checking in the parts lists the partnumber and so the left fender on the pic belongs to the 907ie |

as discussed here some time ago there seem to be also slightly different clutch covers. Here are 2. On the left one that came from my P750. The O-ring sits on the clutch piston. On the right a cover that from the outside looks identical, but the clutch piston has a bigger diameter and the seal is not on the piston, but in the groove in the cover. Both covers are original parts and not modified. Unluckily as so often there`s no partnumber for better identification. G. |
