Hello Gentleman,
It's been awhile since I've written. 2 Get you up to speed, after a countershaft sprocket catastrophy in September '07 requiring a new motor I managed to source a reasonably priced one with some help from Desmo Demon It arrived sometime last January and spent the winter in my storage shed. I got laid off in mid June and decided it was time for some action. It took a solid two weeks to do the transplant single handedly with new belts, rollers, valve adj, full Mikuni swap, fork seals, new clutch, stainless lines, exhaust modification, custom airbox ect. The bike had never been down or seen a drop of rain, it was truly prestine sans the original motor. When it was finally complete and the last body panel secured, I put my helmet on and of course didn't bother to pickup the many various tools strewn around the bike and the 4 other machines sharing the same 10' by 20' spot. My center stand travels too far forward and one of my mods was to bend the tabs in to get it to stick... well sitck it did. I was in such a hurry to go for a long due test ride (I've owned the cursed beast for a year and a half and have ridden it less than 400miles.) that I tried to rock her off the stand from the side, when it finally moved it shot forward and out of my hands falling on my new metal toolbox and busting one of the mirrors off. Boy did I curse. I picked it up, fired it up and went for a short ride. Did notice it was hesitating a bit here and there but figured the gas stabilizer may have given up the ghoast. After about 25miles it was starting to get dark and the Girlfriend was sure to be wondering why I was spending yet another day of my life tinkering with this endless project. I rode the bike to my other garage, parked it on the side stand, left it idiling and walked over to open the garage door, as I was fumbling with the keys I looked back to smile at my work and to enjoy the deep rumble it was producing... but wait it looked like it was starting to move... no don't even think about it you mother F**ker... sure enough it walked right off the stand and busted the mirror off the other side I haven't dropped a streetbike since I was 16 and lost my footing in a dirt parking lot and that was 16 years ago... now twice in one day what gives??? A week later I did a superman off my XR650R at 60mph and broke my clavicle. I've been staring at the Paso for 6 weeks now and finally felt whole enough to go for a ride. The thing handles like a dream and I'm beginning to think it was worth every second. Enough writting for tonight, I'll tell what I've learned and ask for your hand where I need assistance in the next week or so.
