Rebuild that damper adjuster and maybe same time better also change new oil seals and dust scrapers to forks !!! ![]() Btw, also very dangerous, as it have leaked to rotor and brake pad..... |

i take it the m1r manual will be able to help with the rebuild?? fork seals were done less than 3 years ago. during that time the bike had very little use. should i still do them? it is not something i have done before. seals are not easy to come by. local duc dealer hasn't had any in ages. i also have new rotors, so a brake job is in order. |

to take the adjuster apart you don`t have to remove it from the fork leg if you don`t want to. Let the oil from the fork leg first. You find the M1R manual in the downloads. |

3 years can be quite a bit if the bike wasn`t used. Sometimes seals last long, sometimes not even a year. The original size of the sales is 41,7-55-10/10,5mm (inner diameter-outer diameter-height/height of seal lip). With this info you should be able to find them. Just check different bike part suppliers. There there will probably be quite a bit cheaper than from your Duc dealer. Dust selas can still be ordered via your Duc dealer, or check ebay. G. |

i hope we can meet up, kurt! the paso is in quincy (it's current home) getting 'road ready'. this fork thing is a bugger. then a brake job, then the electrics upgrade. and it was running so well last fall, too! |

This is what the guts of your fork damper adjuster looks like: Do you see the black o-ring in the photo? That's the culprit. It goes into the groove of the red component pictured immediately below it and it seals the oil in. My forks had not ever been apart under my ownership (14 years) and there was a lot of filth on all of the fork internals but my damper didn't leak; I just took everything apart when I replaced the fork seals and dust wipers and thoroughly cleaned everything, including this damper. NAPA auto stores should have a metric o-ring replacement for this. As for the fork seals themselves, you can order exact duplicates (even made by same company as the Ducati part) from Parts Unlimited. Their part number is 0407-0128 and their size is 41.7 mm x 55 mm x 10/10.5 mm. Will run you about $8-10. Dust wipers are still available from Ducati, part number 000048396. They were about $30 I think. If your mechanically inclined, you can do this whole job yourself. Good luck! Tom |

Hey paso_rosso, Try these fork seals http://www.motohaus.com/html/seals/leak ... 0intro.htm Got some 4 years ago (not sure if it was from this site) and they are very good, also quite cheap. Cheers, Fraser. |
