Just bought my second Ducati (Paso 750) over the weekend. I already have a limited edition 907ie.

Now I need to service it. Phoned two Ducati main dealers to get some service parts. Neither could help (no information on the model), and one suggested that it may also be pointless asking Ducati UK for part numbers etc. :banghead:

One of the dealers had previously supplied parts for the 907, but it now looks like in future I cannot rely on them any more as they now only deal with post 1993 bikes.

Obviously, the only course of action is to go down the independant supplier route. My question is therefore, can you give some recommendations as to who supplies parts reliably (preferably by mail order, and especially cam belts) and who does good service/repair work. I live in East London so most places in the south east/midlands I can access.

I also have an old honda cb900, and for that I just phone David Silver Spares and usually get the parts delivered the next day. Is there an equivalent supplier for Ducati spares who can supply common parts off the shelf?

Thanks

Sean

Just wondering who you deal with and would recommend as far as suppliers go.

907 has a brass plaque on the tail saying Ferrari Ducati, Number 99 of 150.

There are Ferrari stickers on the side pannels and also Ferrari hand written on ECU control box.

I think that the exhausts are different from other 907s I have seen, they are largely silver like 900ss but with part black overlay on the silencer can. They are genuine ducati silencers, and I am assuming they are genuine as the bike is in good condition.

The guy I bought it from said it was the final batch supposed to go to USA but never made it there. Apparently they spent a few years in a warehouse before being sold in UK. It is on an M plate registered in 1995.

Jan Fallon doesn't refer about any 907 limited edition.
She seems a stock 907 with some stickers.
The mufflers too are the stock ones fitted from MY 92.
I wonder, she could be done by the UK importer.
Ciao

I dont think it is dealer inspired unless they made a new tail section as where the plaque is has a raised border which would indicate it was meant to have the plaque from day 1.

Bad picture, but I think you can see the outline

the tail section with the raised border is something common. Normally there`s a warning sticker in it.
Don`t know if this was 907ie or US model specific.

I really have no idea about the origin of the bike other than what seller told me.

I took it at face value that it was as described, not knowing anything about these bikes.

Bought it cheap, it runs well. Would be nice to think it was a special model, but on the other hand that will not take from the pleasure of riding it.

Really, both my 907s have those raised borders.
The red one has the warning label, while the black one doesn't.
The Japanese importer put a plaque on the Paso 750, too.

So, what's the conclusion then? It is a fake or a UK importer special attempting to get rid of the last of their bikes.

Guess it must have been unloved and sitting around for a while because date of 1st registeration is June 1995.

What ignition box does it have? There have been a few rumors I have run across about "special" marelli boxes removed from 308's after they have converted to Weber's I have only seen pictures, never run across one. The 907 mapping is very similar to 308 mapping I am told

Really, I don't know if that Ferrari limited 907 is a fake.
The Pasos and 907s were advertized as the Ferrari of the bikes, but I can't say much more.
The Jan Fallon's bible doesn't say anything about.
I'd ask to the friends here.
I wonder if, as for the Japanese 750s, there was a selling strategy by the importer.
Ciao

I will get some info on the ECU this evening, see if there is a serial number etc.

The only visual difference is that the word Ferrari is hand written in red paint. I would guess the sort of thing that would happen if a box arrived with modded ECU's that were labelled before being put on the shelf.

I would also guess that no importer/dealer would be mad enough to label the thing as Ferrari without some agreement with that company, especially if the bike was going to the USA.

Also, as the plate implies there were 150 of these bikes, then where are the other 149? One would have thought that another would have popped up on the forum.

As for how the bike drives, all I can say is that it is absolutely flawless. It drives like a modern car essentially, no glitches/stutters/hunting in the injection. The guy who certified (UK MOT) it this year said it was far better than the current bikes (as they come out of the factory) in terms of the setup of the fuel injection.

I have never ridden another injected bike, but comparing it to cars of the period that I have owned, this is far superior and is as good as a modern car.

Finally, I would be interested in getting a copy of the Fallon book to educate myself on Ducati, do you have an ISDN no or some other info. I now realise what I have been missing all these years I have spent on Japanese inline 4 cylinder bikes. I need to catch up quickly.
