Good morning to all,
and excused my English which I know is not good

On my Paso of 90, a "metallic" noise this giving to hear on quoted left of
motor. It is not regular and not synchronized with driving regime. I have
registered the left oil pan, but obviously the rotor of alternator is fixed well,
and I saw nothing from other one of abnormal. Before going farther, have one you
idea of what I shall be able to make?

Kyck

Sorry but i didnt understand so much, but anyway: Have left side of engine been opened close times? Is that metallic sound such, that some metal parts are loosen in left side behind cover? If U feel that some screws, etc is loosen there, then DONT RUN engine before U open laft side cover and find what is wrong there. There can be horrible expensive damage, if some screws, etc is loosen and they damage there other parts.... Is there metal on oil? I mean in plastic coarse filter, or in magnetic empty plug. Its quite normal, if U will find some very small pieces from magnetic blug, as its common in all Ducatis and most of that is coming from gearbox, but there should not be so much of it.

Anyway i quess, that You have to open left side and look closer what is going on. At least i would do so. Its only one set of oil and one filter(to see if any metal on oil) and when engine is out of oil, then easy to take laft side cover away CAREFULLY with some puller(easy to make!) to left side cover / middle "cover"( 2 x allen M6 screws)

Remember to look also that coasre oil filter in lower part of right side. Better take away that lower frame tube part what can be removed by opening 4 bolts to reach that coarse oil filter. Its normal that metal from engine comes to that coarse filter and i open it every 2. time i change engine oils to see if something is there. I change oils so often that thats why i dont look it every time. Can stator screws be opened? They have to put with Loctite! How about gear change to up and to down? Sometimes some spring there have went broken and it can fall down and make more damage inside cover, like happened to one guy here(not me).... Hopefully nothing serious, but keep us updated what You wll find.

Btw, where are You located???

You need to check the chain, the front sprocket (gear) and the bearing on the output (sprocket) shaft. If the chain is too tight it can destroy the bearing on the left side. Tyr to move the output shaft up and down to see if there is play.

Is the chain adjusted properly or worn out??

I removed the casing left nothing abnormal at first sight.
The noise came after a failed ignition in the rain. I drove 2km with only 1 cylinder!
The noise is not regular but always the same regardless of engine rpm, and therefore also slowed and stopped.

I live in France to Evreux in Normandy

I think U have to locate noise better. Is it coming from stator area, from front sprocket area, or from sylinder area.... I taught that U have located it to inside left cover of engine....

Put that Your location to Your details, as there can be surely some Paso owner very close to You and help You some way... Then You can chat privately with french language without any misunderstoods.. :)

Have You checked oil filters? Any metal? :smoke:

Look for signs of the chain "rubbing " against rear exhaust header pipe . Check also that chain not rubbing on underside of swingarm near pivot , and condition of plastic chain guide fitted to front of swingarm

Get yourself a rubber hose, small to medium, Hold one end up to your ear and move the other end around the left side of the motor, transmission area. See if you can locate the worse sounding area. This would be of course if you did not find the problem with a visual inspection.

Check the cam area, The transmission area, as Mc tool indicated, check the chain path.

And just a wild shot, Pull your clutch lever in and out and see if the noise level changes.

Cheers

Joe
