I bought a 1988 Paso 750, not running, really chaep on 10/16/2010. I did look into it a little and found that parts are hard to come by. I didnt see how hard it was to find the rear tire. Or shall I say impossible? Here is a link to the pictures of the bike after I unloaded it on 10/27 with all of it's imperfections.

http://s781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95 ... /?start=40

as you can see it needs some body work. I found a site selling the parts and thought I added it to favorites but I guess I didn't. Any ideas? I really need more than anything mirrors. As you can see in the photos the mirrors were removed with the original turn signals and others were added to the handle bars that do not work. Look at the photos you will see markings in the cowl where the new mirrors hit. This would be in normal conditions pushing it around.
The good new is I have it running now. Not great it tends to die when I give it gas or it sticks but that is a throttle cable issue I am about to fix. Here is the video of it running. You will hear it rev and stay reving. I let go of the throttle. Then I revved it again and it died. Oh and don't laugh at the mess in my garage. I had to beautify it by adding a Ducati!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgSJKQnM5fI

Sorry i am being so long but I have been scouring this site for info. There is a lot of great info on here. There are also lots of helpful people on here. I have seen when people post things people want more detail so I posted my pics and the video. Oh also I have the original Webber carbs. The bike also came without an air filter which I have created one. To add to this while running I also found that the oil leaks out of the drain plug. That is another thing to fix.
So I write all of this to say this is what I have. I am finally a Ducati owner and the Paso is absolutely beautiful in looks and sound! Yes stock exhausts. ALL positive and negative comments are welcome.
So I am looking for body parts and I am also looking for a rear tire. I am also looking at maybe painting it Tricolore. Yes this is not original but I want to know how the world would react to a non-original paint scheme. I will have to repaint it anyway?
Also!?! How much interest is out there for the stock rear tire? If I can get it made will there be interest?

chasaduc, congrats to your new bike.
it looks like it had a tough life and needs lots of work depending what you want to make out of it.
First of all, where are you located ? Add that info to your profile, it will help.
Most fairing parts are glassfibre so they can be repaired. Otherwise ebay will become a good friend.
I don`t know if the bike was ridden in any weather or stood stored for a long time but before starting the engine you should`ve done full maintenence incl. belts, oil etc.
Is the engine running on both cylinders ? That`s the first thing that came to my mind when watching or better hearing your video.
If the carb is cleaned and synchronized change plugs (Champion RA6HC) and if the regulator/rectifier is ok (see FAQs) then do the wiring mod (add a relais connected directly to the battery and use the orange 12V cable to the coils to switch the relais). This will eliminate the existing voltage drop.
of course you should also go through the wiring cleaning all connections and grounds.

Tires are not available for years now, the only option is 130/70-16+150/80-16 or 180/60-16. The first will only need a longer chain, the last more modifications to fit. The front tire will require the fender to be lifted a little. If you change the rear you should probably change the front too as it`s old no matter its thread depth.

I guess you will spend a couple of hours working on the bike before you get it on the street but it`ll be worth it.

Hat's off to you man, thanks for saving a beautiful bike.

750 Paso was my first Duke and I still miss her, you'll have loads of fun with her.

Welcome to the forum Chasaduc!

She'll need a bit of work but they are well worth it. I just spent a few hours in the garage myself replacing the pads and getting the last bit of air out of the brake lines, which is a fiddly job at the best of times!

G, am I mad, or does photo 45 show the wiring mod already in place?

Mike

The only reason I spotted it was because I have just spent hours a few weeks ago doing it on mine. :)

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. Sorry I posted late and have been away but things happened.

I found the site with body parts again. As you can see form the photos my body needs work but not so bad as needing replaced except for the upper fairing. Lucky me it's the most expensive part. I do know how to work on fiberglass and may use that skill in this. Speaking of body i am thinking of going tri-colore. What do you think?

So is my wiring redone?

I replaced the battery and about to tear it down again to work on the carb.

Yes it's running on all cylinders And I live in Ohio and in the US. I updated my profile. This also brings another problem because it's getting cold here. I owned an alfa romeo that was even fuel injected and it refused to start below 45 degrees. The Duc seems to refuse to start under 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Does it not get cold in italy?

Maybe I should ask this too. Is this really the proper set up for the after market? The fuel pump that was not working on the bike was a Mr. Gasket #12S Micro Electric Fuel Pump

http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Gasket-12S-Mic ... 817&sr=8-1

There is also a fuel pressure regulator on the bike that looks like this

Hi Chasaduc,

It looks like the wiring upgrade has been done on your bike. It certainly has a relay next to the coils and it would also have another relay close to the starter solenoid under the saddle. You can check what the actual upgrade looks like with the excellent schematic and instructions in this thread:

As for your starting issue: I think the Italians meant for the Paso to be kept under electric blankets when it gets below certain temperatures.

Cheers,

Mike
