Hey guys, Does anyone know of a way to remove melted shoe rubber from the stock mufflers without damaging the factory finish? Speaking of the finish? is it paint, black chrome or something else? Thanks Jeff |

Use plenty of elbow grease, a tin of steam and some blue smoke. Follow this up with a long weight. |

I've always had good results with Nev-R-Dull. It's a treated fiber wadding in a can. Never noticed any harm to the pipes coating from it. |

A tin of steam and a long weight can be found at most plumbing stores, just send the apprentice down for them. Not sure about the blue smoke though ? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() PS looks like the poms do have a sense of humour after all. |

I've had good results using "easy off" oven cleaner. It works best if the pipes are hot. |

Can you not run the engine untill the pipes are hot and then scrape off the plastic Ha ! When I was an apprentice one of the mechanics told me to go the hardware shop ( E Hayes & Son ) and get a long weight, about 1/2 way there the penny dropped .... so I went to the cinema for the afternoon. When I got back to work there was all sorts of shit flying but I just pointed out that he wanted a long weight ..... you got one ! |
