Before my Paso 750 wouldn't start. I got it to start with a fuel pump. Winter came. Wouldnt start any more. Finally had a moment of above 50 degree weather. it started right up. Ran poor. I got new gas. Starts right up. Running poor again in a different way. A carb spits gas at me from time to time and an exhaust smokes from unused gas.

It's clearly a timing problem!

Today I had to do yard work because it's finally nice outside. That's done. Tomorrow will be 57 and raining. 2-4 inches of rain. Great day to be inside but warm enough to be in the garage and it's above 50 so if I have to I can start my bike.

Tomorrow I am replacing my belts on my paso 750 that I bought and received Wed. Thursday and friday were nice days for outdoor spring cleaning.

Have seen videos about placing dots on old belts to line up with the new belts. Also see this tool to turn the engine. there may be a kit for it too to get it perfect. Getting no replies on that.

Tomorrow I am not placing dots on my belts because my timing is off. I am going to align the dots on crank and cams (which I was told were wrong) and put the new belts on. I dont have the tools because I cant seem find the answers on which tools I need.

So what happens next? Well I dont think that timing is the only issue. The valves have to be tuned also. Will that correct the problem? It will help. I will probably need to work on the carbs to make it run better.

I hope to have this ridable in april. This will tell me my future on if I need to buy another bike to ride this year.

I am thinking I am passing that up to make me ant to have a ridable paso. Or should I buy it? yes I can affordt to do both.

hi chasaduc, you dont need any special tool to change the belts, the way I did it was to remove the covers, also remove spark plugs, this will make it easy to turn engine to align the markers on the cam and motor (there are markers on the crank and cam pulleys line them up with the markers on the motor casing next to pulley...there are no markers on the belts themselves) once you get the pulleys lined up loosen the tensioner arm and remove tensioner ass, remove both belts without turning the pulleys, fit belts back on, then fit tensioner arms back on and tighten firmly, check and make sure all markers line up, re-assemble everything...and Bob's your uncle!!
