New to the board so here goes! I test rode a 1988 Paso 750 today and had a couple of comments. I love the bike but have heard it is very difficult to find the 16 inch tires. Also, I've heard that there are fuel delivery issues associated with the carburitor (said to be made for a car). The seller is asking $3400 US so I'm leary about the investment in light of the foregoing issues. The bike has 17,000 miles.

Thanks.

I dunno how prices go wherever you are but it doesnt sound to bad to me .
16" inch tires could be an issue if you cant read ( there are heaps of posts re the tire situation , most following routes to successful outcomes )
I bet 8 outof 10 people who tell you about how bad the weber carb is have never ridden a webered duke. How did it feel to you? , any where between " a bit niggly " to " not quite right " is probly spot on . They can be improved on ( lots of posts on this too ) or other carbs fitted . Make sure its as complete as possible .
They are cool classic bikes , all problems can be solved easily, but you gotta be in it for the long run to get the best out of em

$3400 is a little on the high side for a 17k bike unless the owner has all of the maintenance records and the bike is complete and clean. If it's an 88 make sure it has the goldish colored valve covers. They are wonderful bikes to ride but if you plan on riding it a lot you need to either be mechanically capable or have a good local mechanic. The Weber issues can be sorted. I just got mine figured out with the help of the board here and it's running really good. Jayh has spent a lot of time making the Weber work.

I picked mine up 2 days ago for $1700. It has 22k miles on it. Fun bike, but the back tire is going to need replacing pretty soon. (ugh!) Also, mine has had the Weber swapped for twin Dell Orto carbs. I don't know if they are better or not, but it runs like a champ!
