Am prepping bike for its annual MOT and the brake lever is coming back all the way to the bars. Have tried bleeding and got some improvement but am beginning to think it is time to treat the old girl to some nice shiny new braided brake lines.

Looking online many of the kits are 2 pipe kits, whereas looking at the bike it it seems I should get a three pipe kit (i.e. one from mater cylinder to splitter, then two coming out of the splitter to the calipers). Often the 3 pipe kits are described as being to the 906 and i dont know if these work with the 750??

Has anyone any recommendations on good makes to buy, based on their own experience of improving the brakes?

Graeme

I had steel braided brake lines for a 907ie once and it was very interesting to see that they were shorter than the ones of a 750.
The ones for the 750 are the same as the ones for the 906. (why not check the parts catalogue - sorry, getting a bit frustrated that noone does that).

If you get a kit with 2 lines or 3 doesn`t really matter. If you get a 2 line kit you`ll lose the pressure switch for the brake light so you will need a microswitch at the master cylinder. A further advantage of a 3 line kit is that they don`t get close to the fork tubes.

If you get steel braided lines get some that have a shrink wrap coating (these catch less dirt and also don`t scratch other surfaces that bad when rubbing) and do replace the rear one as well.

Hiya

thanks for the info

I did check the parts numbers from the list i had and what threw me was the part number for the main lines to the caliper in the 750 kits was different to the number listed for those on the 906 :-) will definitiely go the three line route
