troy at gowanlochs told me that they ordered golden tyres, as they had done before, and received shinkos. same supplier. I assumed it was just shinko taking over the naming of production.

I think the 003 used to be the yokohama tyre as used in the proddie class here on rgv, etc. one of them was anyway.

I got an email from Shinko Germany a few weeks back informing that they have received a shipment. The tires have EU certification and who orders from them will also get a certificate from them if required. That will be interesting for who`s in Germany as you`ll need that for the TÜV. Furthermore they confirmed that Goldentire and GoldenBoy (which I never heard of) are Shinko. Shinko is the main manufacturer (hence the almost identical thread designs) and Goldentire is just a brand used as distribution channel.

Close to double the price in the US.

I have been using Shinko tires for over a year on my HD. Great tires...... great price.

SO glad I found this thread! I was just about to drop $200 on a set of wheels with tires. I was so afraid the tires would be hard as a rock, even though they had lots of tread on them. The front on my Paso now was always dry rotted but if finally cracked all the way through and is trash

I just received my new set of Shinko's from Chapparal; total cost was $187 as they are on sale and shipping was free on orders over $100 (is anything really free??). The tires were shipped bound together with packing tape, not in a box, but they arrived in good condition regardless. I am amazed still that new tires are available for us and I am anxious to have them mounted. But with winter only halfway through here, it will be a while before I get around to that and actually riding on them.

I plan to give my old Michelen's a proper retirement I just haven' figured out yet what that will be. Perhaps a small shrine in the corner of my workshop.

I've recieved lots of tires over the years, and none of them were ever boxed. I can't even think of a reason why they would be.

BTW, I've got a thousand or so miles on my Golden Tyres so far, and have been quite pleased with them.
