Hi All, I have been lurking here for a while as it is a great source of information. I was ordering some brake parts for my Paso from Gowanloch Ducati in Australia when I came across this. Shinko tyres have released a tyre the correct size for Paso's with 16 inch wheels. Now a choice of two brands Golden Tyre or Shinko. These retail for $400NZ dollars a pair. If they are available here I assume they are distributed world wide. |

Hi, do you have the model name of those tires ? Neither in the Shinko catalogue nor on the internet there`s any info on a Shinko in correct size. What you can find are 130/70-16, 160/60-17, 180/60-16 etc. G. |

thanks, found it. http://www.shinkotire.co.kr/english/02p ... AA00010317 http://www.shinkotire.co.kr/english/02p ... AA00010318 they are cheap. In the US you can find the set for US$200 http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/14 ... -Tire.aspx http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/14 ... -Tire.aspx They totally copied the GoldenTyre design and just did some small changes in thread pattern GT Shinko However, that`s great news - thanks for posting it ! ![]() Of course one can wonder now what that will mean for the production of the GT tires. Sales volumes for these sizes must be low and if they drop even more they just may be discontinued one day. Hopefully not. |

my guess is that they are both made in the same factory. Golden Tire contracted them to make them, and marked them up, and Shinko decided to just add them to their catalog now that they are an approved tire. Good news none the less. Cheers, Phil |

out of curiosity I contacted the german importer to ask about availability and european homologation. The only reply there was is that it would take over 3 months delivery time if I planned to order some. So it looks like they`re only readily available in Australia/NZ and the US. G. |

I haven't ridden on Shinkos myself, but given then price and the other reviews I've seen of their other models ... my uneducated first impression is 'you get what you pay for'. I wouldn't expect them to hold a candle to the Michelins, but with few alternatives and the price ... For my $.02 though, since your tires are the first things keeping you upright, I can see the argument to go with the GTs ... "Better / Cheaper / Faster ... pick two" is what comes to mind ![]() |

"I have been riding on Shinko the last 7 years, Yokohama was the name of these tires prior to the new Shinko logo. I can buy 2 of these for the price of 1 Dunlop Tire and get 5,000 miles more, for my money. The Rubber is softer, is why they wear quicker, but the grip I get is better, than The OEM Dunlop that Harley comes standard with from the dealer. Other Riders have their preferences and I respect their choices, cause they don't interfere with mine. I do not care what other Riders Think or say, I been riding Harleys for 35 years, from my first ElectraGlide in 1978 all the way to my 2003 FLH I know what I want and I know what I like so... For my dollars.... I ride with Shinko for now... Cause I feel and get a better even safer Ride from The Shinko... plus the money I save goes to my bike. She likes that!!" That's a review on Amazon for the Shinko 712 Rear Tire - 130/90H-16/ Is that guy right about the Yoko ref? |
