Hello, when I bought my paso last week the owner said he couldn't find one of the clutch springs and sure enough one of them is missing so was wondering if anyone in my area of the country has a old one laying around that i could buy? I can't find the torque settings for torqueing down the clutch springs since that part of my manual is missing and also the height of a good valve spring. I can't really see any wear since bike only has 4900 miles on it and also what do you use to clean the plates? All of my experiences have been with shaft drive and auto style clutches in BMW's so this is a new world. Thanks Arch.

Derek has put a very detailed procedure on his posting on the second page.

I may have a spare spring but obviously it may not arrive before Christmas :,(

Arch, you find all manuals in the downloads thread on top of the P750 forum and the springs are the same on most Ducs (SS, SSie, Hyper, 748, 749, 1098, 907ie etc etc)
The length of new springs is 40-40,5mm.

G.

Hi Guys, thanks for all the responses and the search function and google is the first place I always go to but did not find the specific info I wanted such as torque etc. The second place I always check is the manuals but at least on my computer the paso workshop manual seems to stop at about page 43. My copy of it is missing the english listing for torque valves so only have the German version and meine deutsch ist nicht gut!. I hate to buy a new or set when I just need one. I have a new set of stainless but they're for my ST2. Higgy, I'll PM you and just let me know how much. Thanks for the help. Archie.

I don`t think the torque setting for those bolts is in the manual, you´ll have to look at "nuts & screws in general". If they are M5 bolts like on a Monster it`s 5Nm.

This seems so obvious I must have missed something but .... Why not fit the new stainless springs to your ST2 and use one of the old ST2 springs , or fit the new springs ( as a set ) to the P750 :?

because the ST2 springs are 2.3mm shorter and the wire is thicker.
(I don`t like stainless steel springs as they are usually stiffer and make clutch operation harder)

Not to me .The springs being shorter and thicker would make them stiffer , but being shorter they would have less initial preload , and , without calling in Sheldon ( big bang ) Im picking it would be a lot like an ST2 clutch :)

not quite as the ST2 has a different size clutch master pump and clutch slave piston.
