I have a set in the cart and am a bit hesitant to pull the trigger. I am really looking for some real world opinions. I put the Avons on a couple of years back, and, except for the rear tire looking huge with way too much sidewall, they perform better that the old tires. Now I want to get back to the right profile. Were these actually made for the wide rim. The Avon read tire took an act of god to get mounted. I am hoping for something a bit closer to stock so that I can mount them myself. |

Kinda, after getting the Paso squared away a couple years ago, I haven't had any major issues, or issues of any kind. This spring I intend on sending the forks out to Frank's to get new tubes because mine have some pitting. I figured since I would have it broken down, I might as well put new rubber on it - especially if I can get the right profile tires. |

Golden tire had them now Shinko makes them they are good. I have them as Golden tire which is basically the same thing, a modern tire in the correct size |

I've done 6000 kms on my GTs and they are half worn already. They look good, stick well and are well suited for wet weather. The Aussie summer kills them though. I will keep mine on for the coming winter but next summer I will go the Metzeler ME880 option (180/60/16 Marathon) for the rear (product code 1422500) . I'll do some research regarding the front, but options should be limitless as the Fireblade has a 16 front  There is a thread somewhere with a post from J. in Mildura regarding this. |

I hope so ... I just ordered a pair. (bikebandit.com - $206 shipped, no shipping or tax) It looks like these are the only thing out there that'll fit? |

6000k's and they are 1/2 worn ???? . I have never got much more than 3000k's out of a rear and 5 for the front................. sounds firetrucking good to me  ( Im not kind to tires ) And I have Shinko SR712's on my Guzzi and , apart from looking stupidly skinny I have no complaints , brakes and handles well , havn't tried them in the wet ( don't plan on it either )

WhitePaso, I ran Shinko's (F and R) on my 999 since 2005 when I came back to the US. Like McTool I went through their seemingly softer compound in 3 to 4K but they were/are good tires and held the road every bit as I asked them to. I rode 40 miles (each way) of twisty country Missouri blacktop to and from Ft Leonard Wood daily and the warmer it got, the quicker my trips home became. LOL So I'd think it is a pretty safe bet. I may be in your same boat here in a month or so as I just picked up a 90 906 yesterday and will begin restoring her this spring/summer. |

New boots on order from Pneus online. Cant believe that when first looked at Golden Tyres people were asking £340 a pair and now have bought a pair of Shinkos for £151 delivered. Happy Days! :-) hope to have them by weekend, then it's off for MOT and bike (finally) back on the road. Roll on summer :-) |

I received my new Shinko tires today. This goes out to anyone running them now, did you encounter any issues the rear mounted? The tire looks like it is very narrow and is going to be difficult to seat the bead during install. The Avon tires I currently have on now, looked similar and I had to take the rear tire to several places and ended up having a truck tire dealer mount them with the help of their "air cannon" I am hoping the response is that any bike shop can mount them for me. Let me know any tips/tricks for installing these. I can't wait to get the original profile tires back on. |
