Hi Guys, looking at a paso that has the three piece oscam wheels in red and silver. I did search and Higgy had posted a pic of the wheels a few years back. Consensus was that they never came on a paso but were add on's. Anyone have any experience with these wheels? G. surmised that they might be off a DB1 and just wonder if there would be any advantage to running these other than the bling factor. Thanks Arch.

Still 16" though, right?

Cheers, Phil

Well I'm trying to start a paso shelter similar to animal shelter so send me your unloved paso's!! I've not seen these wheels up close except in grainy photo's so are they held together by rivets or bolts? Thanks Arch.

Thanks G., so these are simply just a aftermarket wheel made by oscam for any bike that could use them? I would expect some ducati dealers might have carried a pair or two as a accessory back in the day. I do think they are much prettier than the stock wheels so now I've got wheel envy! Arch.

Man, if those don't just shout Italian Bling from the 80's, I don't know what does.
A bike would look special with any such like.
Get them Arch. Rare as hen's teeth, and twice as beautiful. You won't see them come past this way again, for while at least.

Cheers, Phil

Look like I might be no. 2 in line for this bike now so who knows and we haven't quite gotten down into my price range yet but might be worth a few extra bucks because of those wheels. Since the ends of the spokes are solid compared to the open ends where they go into the rim on the stock wheels might the modular ones be a little heavier than the stock? Arch.

Most of the time, the aftermarket set is lighter, and sold as an "off highway use only" set, as the walls were thinner, and better alloy was used. But that is just an assumption. If they are not for highway use, then they can shortcut the certification process. Since there aren't many of these around, I would be surprised that they would have spent the money to get these certified. Using them on the highway is no problem in the States, and nobody would ever check that, but in Germany, they may be more of a problem. But I'm just guessing.

With a three piece wheel, you can keep your wall thickness to a bare minimum much easier than you can with a one piece cast wheel. Most of the time they will be lighter, but the only true way is to weigh them.

Cheers, Phil
