Gents,

Last couple of weeks I had the radical idea for tuning my dcnf. Have enough of dismanteling the bodywork for changing idles, mains etc. Found a cheap 907 tank and burned a hole through it on top. Below my progress..

Now the tank is 1mm sheet metal. It took me some time to get it welded. Burned some holes here and there and it took ages to fill it again. Positive side is that it fits like a glove. Now I can easely reach all the jets and even the pump on the left

Later on I noticed that the 907 tank has 8mm thread at the side of the tank (6x). I drilled it at 10mm and fitted bushings with m6. Also I have put a washer on each point so that the fairing is approx at the same distance as the original with the rubber wellnuts.

Furthermore I have epoxied all the welds to be certain there will be no leakage. Great stuff.

Below the adjustable idle jet. When all is ready I can take it for a spin and even tune it while I'm cruising the highway.. lol

Radical but practicable. Need to see this finished. I reckon a nice colour coded shark finned cover grill will finish it off nicely

Check out this old topic "Murayama Motors Paso", shows large cutouts in the tank to let the velocity stacks on the Weber breath.

Cheers,

Fraser.

Very cool, as long as you can stand the intake noise when your tucked in at speed. Let us know what it's like.

Must drastically reduce the fuel range though

Takes allot of filler, sanding, filling and sanding again to get some result. Paint from a spraycan. Two layers of clear coat. I'll let it dry for a week or so.. Then some polishing and it will look ok..

Allmost there on the tank. I've resprayed it twice to get a better result. Just to see what the result can be straight out of a spraycan.
Furthermore I have made a couple of improvements on the intake of the Weber. I have been driving around with an aftermarket K&N for quite some time now. Due to all the input on this site I became more aware that the airflow on top of the Weber is essential for performance. Recently I've noticed that the aftermarket filter and the distance block (old filterhousing) didn't match up perfectly. It appears that there was a gap of 1mm where the main airflow will interfere with the flow to the other jets. Below the alteration I made. Now it's an exact match:

Also I have made my own trumpets. Total height is 45mm, chamber inside is 20mm. It is a snug fit, had to tap it slightly to get in place. Length is increased by 25mm. Don't know yet if it works.. Will see ;)

Such mod to the trumpets will change the intake flow letting mutch more air inside the auxiliary venturi. It likely will need a smaller air brake
