Hi all, Saw a couple of threads about using a rear wheel with a 17mm axle. 1. So I've located a wheel and he's verifying the axle size.
What model and years shoul I look for? 1990 907ie ... any others?
2. It has a tyre; a 160-17
3. Disc is included so I'm looking for a rear brake bracket to match?
4. That leaves me in need do a spacer. Was going to bore some zinc washers and glue them together until I got the spacing right. Then have a permanent spacer machined.
Seems realatively cut and dry, but I tend to put the ass in assume, so what am I missing?

I would start by buying a new correct 16 inch tire size from Shinko - they are available now if you were not aware of that. Not sure of your motivation to go to 17 inch rear but considering the conversion/fabrication headaches you will have to contend with, I would avoid. The issues I know of are frame geometry weirdness, swingarm/tire clearance issues, chain/tire clearance issues, wheel/direction of rotation centering, custom spacers, custom brackets, etc, etc.
Many members here have had success but that was before new tires became available. That is no longer an issue though.
