Just wondering - has anyone had any sucess in drilling vent holes in their clutch cover - for aesthetics and to help release old clutch dust ? Or would it weaken the cover too much ?

I was thinking about a few houles around the outside edge of it (i.e. not on the face of the cover which may weaken it due to the piston being in there).

Oh, and ive double checked - mine is a dry clutch

Mine was custom machined by the previous owner. Its really cool because you can hear the dry clutch jingle really loud after the cover is vented.

I've got a vented clutch cover that I'm interested in selling. The pattern copies what was used on the factory race bikes of the era so I've been told. It takes out a bit more meat than the oval holes already shown. It follows the edge of the internal ribbing but all ribbing remains intact and it only takes out materail from the outer ring. Look on the underside you'll know what I mean. It took me ages to find a drawing for this and then to make it cost effective I had to learn to do the CNC programming, dra it all out then take it to a guy to do. I did 2 so I could test the first one and I don't think I really need the spare so if I can get good money for it it may as well go to a good home. It's freshly machined and satin black powdercoated so it looks new and the bore is good also.

I want $300AUD for it and it is presently on ebay with a day to go.

If there were a few wanting them I suppose it's possible I could arrange to get a series done but not sure if it would be worth it with overseas postage both ways then the cost of the milling operator etc.

If someone is keen on this one let me know but I won't give it away as it's fairly rare, Ive onyl seen one other vented this way. Oh doesn't seem to weaken clutch at all I've been running it for over a year now.

Sorry I don't have the photo hosted anywhere but it's on ebay here -
