I wish I had that tool last week as now I have committed to running the bike into protwin to sort out this clutch but atleast he will get to the bottom of this and I can post results which may clarify some details which could help others in the future, cheers, here is the dismantling pic which shows the plates sitting how they should

Bikes back from Protwin with clutch sorted, Justin removed the clutch nut and stripped back to check all and only problem was the order of plates, I may remove plates to see correct order and take a pic as I still need to change the control plate for a new one, here's a pic of what's left of original clutch and barnett clutch , cheers

WOW.

Tell us about your front brake rotors please.

Thank you again for documenting and sharing your incredible restoration. It's golden... :-)

Thanks Randy, the front rotors are possibly getting changed for new as I need to replace the rotor screws for new ones and same on rear so considering new rotors while I'm at it, the gold rotors are really just the results of a lazy repaint, the idea being first running old pads to cut a nice outer circle in paint, I'm looking at the Chinese stainless discs as reasonably priced but if anyone knows of any problems with these I'm all ears, thanks again

Well they will fit the engine but I don't know how well they will line up with the silencers. I'm sure someone will have a definite answer

Thanks Derek, but I'm talking about the little oilpipes from the alternator cover to the barrels, the old ones are a bit knackered mate

Sorry, I guess I wasn't paying attention. Unless they changed the size of the banjos, and from your photos they look the same, then I'm sure the oil pipes will fit. They are flexible so will allow a little a bit re-alignment if necessary.

I'm still lost with the clutch issue. The tolerance between a new and a worn clutch is small so I wonder which status you're in now by using another clutch with two discs removed. Didn't you also say the new kit was actually thinner than the old one?! However, if it works it's all good. For me it just shows it's not the correct clutch and that it would have been better to return it and get the right kit. ;)
Regarding the oil hoses I guess a hydraulics shop could make some. If the size of the banjo fittings is the same as the ones used for brake hoses (and if the inner diameter is about the same) you could also make your own. That's assuming that a hose that is made for brake fluid can also handle engine oil. You can find brake hoses which can be cut to the length you need. I.e. https://revivalcycles.com/products/brake-lines
