What do people get in terms of mileage? With which octane and with which carbs? I just got about 32 mpg, with 87 octane [(r+m)/2] and Mikunis--and that was being leisurely this morning. My '92 750SS, which has the same carbs, uses the same gas, but has lower compression pistons, gets in the low 40s with the same riding style. Thanks. Ben |

You'll have to pull a plug and look at the color. I guess the carbs need some fiddling. I may fill my F1 today and will let you know what the mileage is later. |

Volunteering, Jon? Probably a good thing to synchronize them, at a minimum, but I'm not getting any unusual vibrations which is usually my first sign that the carbs need tinkering. The plug in the vertical cylinder is a nice golden brown color, with no wear on the electrode. I didn't feel like yanking the fairing to look at the horizontal cylinder's plug. Perhaps over the weekend, if I'm so inclined. Ben |

I used to get around 25mpg untill I did a bit of jetting on my Dellortos. I now get around 40 in spirited riding. Cheers, |

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like my experience isn't too unusual, but I might be able to fiddle with the carbs and squeeze some more mileage out of them. Naturally, no time at the present to experiment, but hopefully in the coming weeks. Thanks. Ben |

32 was my worst 43 my best. Running unsynched Mikuni's. Jon said mig welding tips may screw into the intake manifolds for attaching a balancer. Anyone have any other suggestions as to where to find nipples that will screw into the intake manifolds? |
