Smaller main bore, the rest has small differences but nothing to limit interchangeability of the vast majority of parts.

Hey Axle
really like what you have done to the sport. Sorry can't help with the weber as i sold mine. Just curious, why not fitting Mikunis or Dells instead? Also your frame - did you cut it like that before repaint? what is it going to be when finished. cafe racer? track day bike?

Very nice project.
i would like to see it when it will be finished.
I agree with Mustang: why not fit a couple of Mikunis, Dellortos etc?
Ciao

So.. my personal preference seems to be rare here, I really like the Weber, it has some issues, but on the whole it is worth sticking with. The current setup I have is snatchy around town, wanting to either have the throttle closed or nailed (ok not that bad).... I must have the only well set up Weber? (lol), anyway I do not want to mess with the setup I already have, I like it when I'm 'riding' it is awesome, rather get another one and work with that, having the original ready to go back to.

I owned a 900ss, but nothing I have heard sounds or moves like this 750 with the Weber.

I have replaced the ART cans with those from Baines Imola kit (although they were chrome, I had them camcoat'ed)

and following the first fire up after the rebuild I am not dissappointed, the carb must be contributing to this. I am going to stick with Weber.

As for the rebuild...

After a ride in November 2007, I took it back to the garage and instead of cleaning it, my good friend and I stripped it to components - less the engine, and started something I didn't really plan to.

I wanted to replace the rear shock and rebuild the forks, cut the nasty welds from the frame, replace the bearings, clean and powdercoat all and rebuild.

I cut the peg hanger loops and rear part of the frame, closing it up slightly at the aftermost posts where the electrical tray ends and the cowl bolts in.

Malden Shotblasting cleaned and coated the frame and wheels.

Philpots ground and hard chromed the forks, polished the lowers and rebuilt.

I don't have much left to do, some fabrication is needed to bolt on the rearset and exhaust hangers from the Baines Imola kit, as it was not intended for this frame.

I have a large round headlamp from a Buell S1, which is from BMW I think, although the original fairing upper is getting sprayed currently and will go back on with the original headlamp in order to get some road time out of it before I continue.... as I almost cannot wait any longer, the sound is addictive, incredible even compared to other more recent Ducati's.

I am going to have the bikini fairing whether round or original lamp, I will post some more recent pics as it goes along if there is any interest.

Great work on your sport!
Anyhow, a 44 weber correctly tuned is a real joy for ears!

Axle
thanks for the extra info and pics of your rebuild. Interest? there's always interest on this site if you are rebuilding a sport or paso. I'll post a pic or two of where my sport is at (90% mechanically finished) on monday (going skiing this wekend!) as i done few things similar to you. except I should have cut my frame too to suit a F2 replica seat i want to fit but only found/decided after re powdercoat. what tires are fitted in your picture? I like the polished fork bottom end too. I polished a fair bit on mine but never thought of that - looks very good.

Great project bike. Love to look at that nice frame. Hope you put on a minimalist seat to leave that frame show. I'm interested in what you will do for the pegs. There are a pair of holes on each side of the engine, but mounting pegs to the engine has its side affects, especially if you drop it. Good work so far. Now the challenge is to get it streetworthy without adding too much more stuff. Looks great the way it is. My Project Nudo Nuovo will have a similar feel, but in red and with wire wheels.

Cheers,

Nice work!

Can't help with Weber, but wondering if you have 750s fairing set left over..?
Also missing original hugger, silencers, mirrors,.. etc.

Mine 750s haven't original fairings, so if you have extra I'm interested to buy them.
