The 900s came out with 16 inch wheels as well (as the 750) didn't they? Are these ones 17s off a later model? Did this model 900 use the same swingarm and forks as the 88-89 750 sport?

Those look like Dutcai 3 spoke wheels. Maybe from a 900ss

Mate - have you phoned these guys? I have bought a few bits off them - ok guys to deal with, bit pricey on some bits - but that pic of the 900 has been on their site for 2 years now.

87 and some 88 had 16's

that is a 1989/1990 900 supersport. Made for one year, sold only in Oz, NZ, and some of Europe.
Yes, 17" wheels were stock on that bike, and those look to be them, and they will look great on your bike. Bike looks basically stock, except for the exhaust. Frame and body work are basically the same as the 750 Sport.

the swingarm might be different from the 750 Sport, as it has the 900 motor, which is a 6 speed. Not sure what they did for the pivot on that one year. Maybe it matches the later SS series, or it copied the 750 Sport. The pivot pin for the Sport is shorter, but fatter than the later SS. Ask them to measure the pivot pin to tell you for sure.

Don't know about the forks. Write ups from the day say the fork was acceptable for its time. Could be the M1BB. Probably fit into your triples, but then again, just swap the triples if it didn't.

If you have a Sport, the rear wheel will drop right into your swingarm straight away. No changes. No need to swap out the swingarm, but get the caliper and hanger to match the different rotor size. The fork on the other hand, should be purchased to get the bigger brakes and the 17" wheel. Get the groovy 30/30 calipers in the deal, and that fork brace (pretty rare)

If I were you, and wanted to go to 17" wheels on you sport (which I highly recommend) the shopping list from this bike would be"
- Rear wheel with sprocket and rotor, and all the spacers.
- Rear caliper and hanger.
- Entire front end from the triples on down.
- Master cylinder for the front to match the 4 piston calipers.

If you get it all for $500, consider your self good. By next weekend, you will be riding a new and improved bike. Easy swap of these parts. Its basically what I have done, and buying all the parts from e-bay cost more than $500 and took almost a year to find it all.

And yes, the first year 851 did have 16" wheels, and the M1R fork.

More HP, more brakes, 17" wheels, all good things. It was basically the 907 of the Sport. Its what it could have been, or should have been.

ducatispares have 4.5 17" rear rim on TradeMe now for $150 and it includes the cush hub and sprocket. I paid $250 for the same set up rear from desmocycle and what i race with (still run the 16" on the front) and you can fit a 160 rear tyre which i think suits the bike better, handling and looks wise rather than a 180. That rim should just drop in your bike - depends what swing arm is fitted? Good price i think and then you can decide on the front.

If the forks are still available, they might be worthwhile. It will save you the challenge of making adapters for the 4 piston calipers, and the wheel spacing would be correct. All 90's 17" wheels will drop right in.

Those rotors were 300 mm, so if you do get those forks, then you need 300 mm rotors, not the 320. Newer Monster and Multistrada 620 has the 300 mm rotors, as did a host of yamahas .

I am running 300 mm rotors on my bike. Work fine.
