Hello, yet another problem. Since I've put the ducati into storage (moved to a mates garage not fully put away yet.) it has started to leak oil out of the gearbox. I can't describe what it is so I've taken a picture of it to aid my question. Hopefully its just a seal, what do you guys think? could it be anything worse? Like literally I rode the bike round the corner then left it for a couple weeks. Picture did not come through. On occasion, the Ducati seems to build up too much pressure and leak around the oil filter at start up. My ST2 did this, and my ST4s, and my Sport. Checked the filter for being tight and no problems. Can't explain why it happens. I also once had an oil leak at the swingarm pivot, but that was from bad engineering from the previous owner. With all oil leaks, wash the engine off well, then try to trace the source of the oil. Oh, and confirm its oil, and not gas leaking. |

This is the link Flickr says to use: http://flic.kr/p/dgLRH4 (pretty new to flickr lol) Its where the gear shifter joins the transmission, you know the little shaft thing that sticks into it. I know its oil as its all over the floor underneath it haha. It's only a small leak but a leak is a leak and it shouldn't be there. hopefully the picture works, I really can't describe the part and have no idea what its called Thanks, Alex |

luckily, the easiest oil seal to fix. Still have to pull the cover off, but better than some others. |

Will it be expensive? I'll probably be doing it myself at a friends workshop (he's a mechanic so its just incase I go wrong lol) and what is it called? If they are cheap enough would it be worth changing all of the seals as I imagine its just weathered away with the age and actually getting used after 10 years. Cheers, Alex |

Lol Shift Shaft Seal, bit of a mouthful. I've asked Russ at Ducati Mondo to have a look. Just a little update, the leak was the seal at the end of the shift shaft and is currently being replaced. Didn't even have to take the gearbox to pieces lol and there was me expecting the worst |
