Does anybody know if there are any differences between the 900/750 ss/monster inlet manifolds? I am fitting some Mikuni carbs from a 750SS to a custom Sport build and am wondering whether it matters. thanks, Sean PS anybody have a set they want to sell before I go shopping for them? |

Im pretty sure I read somewhere they are different , the 750 engine has a shorter stroke and thus a lower cylinder head height , so it makes sense that they would be different ![]() |

I thought so too but does that mean 900ss units are shorter? |

longer , I have a pair off a 900ss , I can dig em out and have a measure up / pic if you want ![]() |

Customhead, I have the 900 SS inlet manifolds on my 750P and they fit fine with the Mikunis (also off a 900 SS). Cheers, Fraser. |

if you put a 750 and a 900 Mikuni inlet manifold next to each other you will hardly spot a difference but there are several. The 900 inlet manifolds have a different length and angle to compensate the cylinder height and to position the carb in the exact same height as on the 750. You can fit 900 manifolds on a 750 and probably vice versa but the carb will stand slightly askew and due to that mismatch the carb and rubber boots may not sit perfectly so there`s a risk of leak air. Better get a set from a same cc bike. SS and Monster inlet manifolds are not identical. The Monster use a vacuum fuel pump and fuel valve so the inlet manifolds have threads for hose nipples. Some SS inlet manifolds have a screw blocking these holes others don`t have them at all. |

Sean, go all out and custom make one like this, so your carb. can sit straight. ![]()

The inlet manifolds from the SS are all marked and if you fit the wrong ones you can end up restricting the bike. The ones for a 900 should be stamped with a 9, 750 a 7, 600 a 6 and 400 a 4. They are all the same length but the bore will differ. |

only the later ones were marked and the bore of the 750 & 900 ones is the same. |

I'm fairly new to the 750, so I can't comment on the stamping. All I know is that I took an intake from a early 2000 750, cut it up in 3 pieces, got it re-welded, put it on, and the bike is finally running well. ![]() |

from a 2000 ? Then yours would be from a bike with fuel injection. ![]() |

Sorry guys, the intake I cut up for my 750S was from an early 90's 900, not an early 2000 750. ![]() |
