Think ill give the Sport a oil change next week seeing as i have some free time (hopefully) can you recommend the correct viscosity oil, any recommendations....... Filter etc?..

The filter to go for is off a 2CV Citroen , way cheaper than Ducati and the same thing . I ran XLD Valvoline in my SS but I changed the oil every 3000km. More expensive oil will last longer so it sorta works out the same (ish ) . Pick your fave brand , mineral or synthetic

Either 10w40 or 15w50 are OK . The engine is not that highly stressed so you don't NEED racing car oil. If I was riding in a hot climate and hot running ( like oil temps over 105deg c ) was an issue Id probly go for a full synthetic , but a good semi synth is OK . I like Penrite oils with the "added Zinc " because its supposed to be good for cams / rockers . Our bike motors also have the transmission in the same oil ( but no clutch like some ) and gear action is hard on any oil so , if, say you would use a certain type of oil in your car for 10,000km's , then 5000km's is about the longest Id want to leave it the bike and it would need to be good synth stuff to make it that far .When this oil is drained it still looks reasonably clean but it will have lost lubricity ( suck on that spell check ) and film strength

I tend towards synthetics mostly. and change it once a year at least. Making sure your breather is working properly, and you take the bike for a nice long ride every once in while will help the oil live a longer life. Water accumulation is always a problem with motorcycle motors, so a good long ride helps get that all out. I buy whatever is reasonably priced at the local bike shop. Usually end up with Repsol it seems.

Thanks for the reply's..., can anyone confirm the correct oil filter? is p/n 44440035A correct? i.e. this one. eBay item number:171488938201. i did ask and they said; I cannot say for sure as Ducati only provide us with parts info for models manufactured from 1991 onward.
