Just wondering if any of you guys have fitted a steering damper to a sport? I was wondering if the daytona damper would work. The same as bevel heaven sell. https://store.bevelheaven.com/Chassis-S ... TONA-Type/ I noticed in the pic of the ferracci 750 sport its mounted where the helmet lock was... Any thoughts..

I put one on my bike shortly after I bought it. There was evidence that the bike had experienced a tank slapper or two in its previous life. The paint on the two frame tubes heading to the headset had a series of hairline cracks in the paint on both side. Of course a few suspension upgrades helped a lot too.
Cheers, Phil

Thanks for the reply... I wonder if there was a reason not to mount on the opposite side and fit in place of the steering lock.

I didn't mount it on the right side because I have the helmet lock there. Mine still works.
Trust that mounting a damper is not an easy task. There is only one position that it works, and it will still hit your knee at times. I tried several dampers, and mounting concepts before I settled on this one, and it looks almost same as the race bike. The fairing is pretty tight and limits the location options. You will need a fairly long stroke damper.

Well, that certainly looks like it works. A fine job of tucking it in there. The action won't be as linear as it would be mounted to the outside of the fork, but I'm not sure that matters that much. High speed wobbles are mostly while pointed straight, and not in a parking lot where you are testing the limits of your fork stops. That damper is certainly a lot cheaper than the Ohlins one I ended up with. Ohlins is nice stuff, but the price is bit too dear, even used. The one shown above was on my bike when I got it, but all of its damping had long since left, and it was simply an ornament. I tried to fit one from a 748, but never found a good way to mount it.
Cheers, Phil

Funny enough the damper position in the last pic is very similar to the standard F1 damper position (mounted on the opposite side), ill try and post some pictures of the damper on the laguna..
