Drove a 750 sport today. It has the Weber carb and a k&n metal and mesh filter which appears to be off a car. Jets are not standard and have been recently cleaned. Very pleased to report it has No Flatspot. Was planning to put individual carbs, but I cannot be bothered to fix a problem which doesn't exist. Any other Weber success stories?

Hi , if you cant be bothered changing the weber why bother with the 17" conv ? you can get new tires the right size and by all accounts they are way better than the original fitting tires

Sounds like a good plan b. Still Like the idea of a rear 17.
Where are you getting your tyres and for how much

I haven't used any but they are "Golden tire" brand so google em up and Im sure there will be more info in the FAQ's and try searching the forum as there has been much discussion re tires and 17" conversions
I still have a pile of original Michelins .... which other forum members are continually pestering me to sell

I would imagine they are so hard by now that 1 set would last you into the next century

actually not so much . They have been stored correctly since I have had them . I have one that I got as old stock from a shop and that tire had spent a few years on a rack , and 3 rears and 2 fronts I got fresh from a supplier . The one from the shop is even a different colour to the others and it is hard , where as the others seem about the same as a new tire I got for the RD last month ( I did a comparison just for the hell of it , by sticking a ball point pen into it to test for hardness) , I doubt that they will ever see the road tho

I bought a bike last Wednesday and the seller put new tyres on for me, one being a rear Macadam. After a spirited run up through the mountains I for some reason checked the tyre dates and the back one said (0806)

Although it hung on ok it'll be coming off and a Pirelli Super Venom will be going on to match the front.

I'll let you know in a couple of months about the Weber as my Sport will be going on Classic rego. I think the previous owner had it pretty well sorted though. If not I'll put a set of Dellortos on.

Thanks! I spoke with a mechanic who has had quite a few of these in his shop over the years. After clogged jets, vacuum leaks and fuel pressure problems seem to be the most prevalent. He believes my bike has oversized venturies and we both think my airfilter looks very similar to one off a Porsche 914
