Post subject: Help get an ole' bike going again Posted: Wed Jun 06, 2007 4:28 am |

Hello group........ Looking for some tips on getting this 906 conversion bike going. I have a classified ad posted for the bike, and am trying to get it running and road worthy before getting serious about selling.
At anyrate, here are a couple issues :
I have checked for spark, and only get a random spark every once in awhile from the rear cylinder. Have not checked from cylinder yet, but a quick shot of starting fluid directly into that carb and it didnt even fire once, so i dont think im getting spark there either.
The bike is missing its side stand, and i see that the warning light on the cluster is lit when key on, Pushing in the plunger on the sidestand switch makes the light go off, but has no effect on spark.
The bike is a conversion 750/906 and there are about 8 wires or so not connected. I have no idea if they are just unused from the conversion, or if they are part of the problem.
Are there any other fail safes that might be keeping me from getting spark ? Or can you point me where to start checking next.
Thanks, TORI

Thanks guys for the help. I think it is a bad connection. Tonite i was talking to the owner showing him how it didnt have spark..... crank.......crank........crank...... spark. crank....... crank,......crank..no spark. Then i let off,.....and hit it again... and bam..... SPARK like its supposed to.
Now that i had spark i continued with getting it started. Found the fuel pump disconnected, fixed that, heard the float bowls filling up, hit the starter and after a few pops, she ran.
Actually ran pretty well. Takes throttle, no valve train noise, and rev's quickly.
Now i just need to figure out the no charge condition. It has a brand new regulator/rectifier.
But now that it runs, $1500 shouldn't be as hard a sale. Any takers ?
