Post subject: | Paso 906 vs 900SS |
Hi everybody! I'm new around here and I don't have (yet) a Paso but I do have a 96 900SS, which was my teenager's dream bike. The Paso was always a very close second place and now that my physics start to suffer a bit on each 900's Sunday ride (unless I’m really committed on sport ridding), I'm starting wondering about Paso's. From the ones among you who know both bikes, can you confirm me if it's really a much better Sport-Tourer then the SS? And the clutch, is it still a typical Ducati wrist breaker?? One aspect that really concerns my approach to the Paso (that I don't have with the SS) is tyre sizes: can you find easily decent sporty rubber for those 16' wheels? Thanks. All the best. |

Firstly Welcome Why not consider a 907ie same as the 906 but with all the variables generally sorted. There also does not seem to be much difference in Price around the Globe. |

Portuguese market tends to act a bit different from the rest of the world. Around here, a Paso is very difficult to find and the 907 tend to cost the double of a Paso and is as rare has the first one. I would also prefer the 907 but the kind of money they ask around here, just can't be justified when your talking of a third bike (Missus would get really pissed!).... and I must confess that the 16' wheels are much better looking!!! ![]() ![]() |

If you intend to use the bike on roads, not in the city, the 906 is perfect for a tourism or sport-tourism riding, it provides me with a lot of fun. In the city it is different, its weber is not designed for that use unless you have it perfectly adjusted, what it is not so easy..., but you can be proud of showing to everyone the most beautiful motorbike in the world! Regarding 16" tyres, I admit that they are not the best for slow bends but the stability in normal roads and motorways is great. So far, I have been able to find the original 16" wheels but, as colleagues indicate, it is a nightmare, none is manufacturing them and it will be probably necessary to adapt the bike to 17" or other sizes in the near future (there are several topics in this forum related to it). Although I prefer my Paso (I am a Paso lover!), I can not say that it is a "much better" sport touring bike than a 900 SS. I have ridden a couple of times a 900 SS and I enjoyed it a lot, I found it very stable and easy to handle. I would just suggest you to try a Paso before acquiring it and compare... I have never considered the Paso clutch as a "wrist breaker", the clutch is reasonable soft for me. However, if you are not used to it, its riding position might be considered a little bit painful for the wrists, since the weight is quite charged onto the rider arms. Once you get used to it, it is not a big deal. Good luck with your Paso search. If finally you acquire one, pictures would be welcome! |
