As we all are aware of, we all have a issue, problem, dilemma………. lets call it a : task, in converting our beloved PASO’s 750/906 from 16” wheels to 17”. I think it could be very interesting and inspiring, if the guys, who have done the conversion, could make some kind of “this is how I did it” maybe also with pictures in some kind of sticky topic or alike. I am in the mist of the converting to 17”, and I have all the basic hardware, such as wheels and brakes. I also have a plan on how I want the end result, but it is also nice to see what others have made, and what problems they have ran in to. Just a thought. regards Klaus Denmark PASO 750, 1990. |

54 views and no replies, what a pack of fence sitters ! just the motovation I needed I have a 90 paso 906 and a 97 900ss and after reading this post and deciding that the 8 rear and 6 front 16'' michelins I have stock piled aint going to last for ever , I got the tape measure out and had a quick measure up , got a bit excited , rolled a little " inspiration " and the spanners started flying . I removed the whole front end of the paso , tripple clamps forks , brakes , the lot . I then did the same to the ss, removing the top clamp , the steering head nut and removed the master cylinder assy ( without disconnecting any hoses ) and removed the whole assy in one piece , wheel , forks, brakes, lower clamp and hugger, fitted the whole lot to the paso, fitted steering head nut and top clamp. The only issue is the handle bars as the clip on's off the SS deffinatly wont fit the paso. Yahoo , up side down forks , 4 spot brembo,s 17,s.................... it all fits, now all I got to do is find enough SS bits to make it a perminant fix as I just couldn't rape the SS like that but it all works ( without actually going for a ride ) . The ofset on the tripple clamps is the same too , so no change in steering geometery |

Uh ok I had taken a bunch of photo's but gave up trying to post them ( I have since seen the post by J slocum so will try again ) . I will have a good measure up this week end and provide better details. I didnt change the steering berrings so I had the inner race on the ss lower clamp and the paso outer race in the frame . I had trouble getting a ( non genuine ) berrings for the ss and I think I wound up getting a fiat wheel berring kit , may have been the paso as I have done them both recently . Can you remove the stem from the lower clamp ? the one on the paso had been butchered by someone trying to remove the lower berring with an angle grinder and I wound up getting it built up and reground to size bit now it isn't quite straight ( ho hum la la lala la ) |

if converting and the bike is red I would take the wheels of a Bimota Furano. I think they are amongst the nicest wheels, look a bit like the Marvics and should match the bikes design better than i.e. Marchesini wheels. (once in a while a set shows up on ebay) |

those are beautiful. that would definitely be an acceptable solution keeping with the design theme of the bike. ![]() |
