yes i think its time to replace my brake discs front and rear on the 906 whilst im rebuilding her. i think the ones on it are twenty years old or more. i want to do like for like and keep it all original. has anyone got any new or good used ones i could buy? or any good suggestions of improvements etc? i am going to overhaul the callipers etc and put new pads. that should help with stopping and with looks! all help greatfully appreciated. photos to follow! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Is there something wrong with your disc's, they do wear a bit but unless they are really thin or warped just give em a clean . When you buy pads make sure the seller knows they are for cast iron disc's . I once fitted sintered bronze pads to a bike with cast disc's and they were the best brakes id ever had on that bike , but the disc's wore faster than the pads ![]() |

you are probably right there. nothing much wrong with them. a little bit thin a little bit rusty. probably better to clean them up as you say and concentrate on the motor. i will remember that they are iron ones. thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

One thing that nearly drove me shotgun mad was washing the bike . The disc's , being cast iron rust almost instantly and unless you make sure the disc's are dry ( like . get all the water out of the holes in the disc ) the 1st time you touch the brakes wipes the surface rust off , combines with residual water and then you get BROWN SHIT dribbling all over your clean ( white ) wheels ![]() ![]() ![]() I guess its all relative nnnnnnorman, when I got my paso I thought the brakes were pretty good ( and they are ) but when I got the SS ( which is old hat now ) the paso looked a bit dated, having said that Im in no hurry to change them , but when I get round to doing the 17 inch conv I will put the SS disc's, master cylinder and calipurs on with the wheels . |

In 17" conversion it's almost needed to switch to 300 or 320 discs and newer calipers ![]() |
