yes i think its time to replace my brake discs front and rear on the 906 whilst im rebuilding her. i think the ones on it are twenty years old or more. i want to do like for like and keep it all original. has anyone got any new or good used ones i could buy? or any good suggestions of improvements etc? i am going to overhaul the callipers etc and put new pads. that should help with stopping and with looks! all help greatfully appreciated. photos to follow!  :) 8) :choo:

Is there something wrong with your disc's, they do wear a bit but unless they are really thin or warped just give em a clean . When you buy pads make sure the seller knows they are for cast iron disc's . I once fitted sintered bronze pads to a bike with cast disc's and they were the best brakes id ever had on that bike , but the disc's wore faster than the pads

you are probably right there. nothing much wrong with them. a little bit thin a little bit rusty. probably better to clean them up as you say and concentrate on the motor. i will remember that they are iron ones. thanks ;)      :dunno: :choo:  :| :rimshot: :truck:

One thing that nearly drove me shotgun mad was washing the bike . The disc's , being cast iron rust almost instantly and unless you make sure the disc's are dry ( like . get all the water out of the holes in the disc ) the 1st time you touch the brakes wipes the surface rust off , combines with residual water and then you get BROWN SHIT dribbling all over your clean ( white ) wheels    .
I guess its all relative nnnnnnorman, when I got my paso I thought the brakes were pretty good ( and they are ) but when I got the SS ( which is old hat now ) the paso looked a bit dated, having said that Im in no hurry to change them , but when I get round to doing the 17 inch conv I will put the SS disc's, master cylinder and calipurs on with the wheels .

In 17" conversion it's almost needed to switch to 300 or 320 discs and newer calipers

that sounds like a good reason never to wash my bike :) i always dry clean the 906 and my other bikes anyway. a damp cloth is as close as it gets to hot soapy water! it seems like a good idea to do the discs and calipers if an extra inch is your plans for your wheels. im going for the avon azoras option and sticking with the little wheels. luckily mine are gold so hide a little bit of road dirt and brake dust. they always wipe up clean enough. i can understand how white ones could be a distraction! the worse thing for me now the tyre issue has been decided are the tyre valves on these little fellows. it is always such a pulaver getting air in and out of them. i have one of those little elbow connectors but boy is it FIDDLY!!!!
