Hi all, New member here from UK. Have a few bikes but my partners late husband had a 906 which had been stored for 14 years since he had a fatal accident on a TL 1000s. Thought it was time to give the old girl a freshen up and it's now on the road again ![]() I have been looking at this forum for months and it has helped a great deal so thanx to all you experts here. The tyres were fine (but 14 years old) and after a change of belts and carb clean etc the bike went out for it's first trip in over a decade. Well what can I say...............lumpy, heavy, slow and loads more, but totaly thrilling and loads of that elusive thing called "character" ![]() I have decided to go Colonial boys way with the 180/60 tyres, I've not spaced the chain out yet but have the rear spacer made and ready but have done a few hundred miles with the chain rubbing the tyre side, it don't seem to bad but a swap is imminent. The only other problem I found was with the chain......too short, so the tyre rubbed the swing arm, but an extra link makes it a bit slack. The problem was sorted with a "Half link" it's not ideal but works fine for the local runs we do and I won't strain it to much. ![]() |

It must have been a shock to ride a standard Paso after a GSXR 1000, especially the brakes. You are right about the fun riding them, its not easy to define but I have had mine since 1991 and do not feel inclined to run a fuel injected thou' quite yet. I think it is that it looks a modern machine with the water cooling and fairing but has an updated 70's engine that is a tough lump with power from 3 to 8 instead of 14 to 17. The sound when added to the overall package is another attraction - must be a rebellious streak. In what part of the UK are you? I am East Midlands. |

Im In Leigh Grt Manchester, yep it's certainly different to what Im used to....not half as good but somehow twice as enjoyable as modern stuff. I have an Aprilia and had TL 1000s so it's not just the V twin thing either. On a side note I do find myself actually talking to the Paso, never done this to other bikes ![]() |
