So, last night marked the 5th straight "Wednesday Night Ride" I have failed to complete for various reasons: Getting lost. Engine misfiring. Rear sprocket bolts shearing off. Getting lost (again) and last night, engine misfire again. *sigh* I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever complete one. In any case, the engine misfire thing is in another thread. I had decided by the time I was heading down Dyers Pass Road into the crater that I couldn't trust the engine to run sweetly all the way to Akaroa and back, so I ducked left at the bottom of the hill, to come back through the tunnel. I didn't like the idea of having to ride up hill if the engine dropped a cylinder again. When I got to the Lyttleton tunnel, I had the best engine-audio time of my life! I enjoyed it so much I ran back to Lyttleton again, and then back to Christchurch once more. I know my bike is loud; with the Zorsts fully opened up, but that was ridiculous! The sound was shattering, right up and down the entire length of the tunnel. Drivers were tooting their horns and flashing their lights at me. ![]() Those three runs up and down the tunnel have completely paid me back every cent I have spent on that bike, and most likely every cent I ever will spend on it. I think I'm gonna go and do it at least twice again today. I really wish I had some way to record it for you, without the sound of the wind noise. |

Mobius, Did you ever check the Ignition switch as the source of your recurrent misfire? Take the connector off the bottom of the switch and check the condition of the plastic and each and every terminal on both ends of the pigtail. If the plastic is melted at all you need to take the switch apart and give it a good clean, replace the terminations and trim away the melted plastic. On my 906 I also added a zip lock tie to help the plastic tabs that hold the connector to the switch housing and have solved my issues on a low mileage 906 ![]() ![]() ps I have a picture for you of the type of nut you will need to put larger bolts in your sprocket carrier ![]() PSS sweet 906 ![]() ![]() |

yes a lovely looking 906 you have there and there is no denying the excellent sound our blkes can make. i would be tempted on a clear run to go through a little bit faster with a mike taped to the rear end attatched to a sony minidisc player. anyway i hope your problems are easy to solve and you get to enjoy your wednesday night rides. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I went back for another couple of blasts today. Fantastic. I tried recording the sound with my Android phone, but the mike is so lousy the recording is rubbish. |
