Gday all I have a dilemma, I have owned two ducatis in the past 1st a st2 then my last bike a st4s which I loved what a bike, but due to a bad bust up the st4s had to go other wise I couldn't buy my house. But now getting to the dilemma I've always loved the shape lines and styling of the 906 paso ever since it came out I thought it was just beautiful but listening to people and reading a lot of forums they seem to be plagued with lots of issues, yes I know the 907 IE had resolved a lot of the problems like fuelling wiring and wheels but I don't think it is as stunning as the 906 even tho they are subtle differences I'm still a 906 fan. So can someone please give me the their thoughts on what they think of their 906 no holds barred no bulls#%t just the truth I want a bike I can get on on weekends and just cruise I don't need to be knee scrapping and wheeling everywhere and all that just a nice bike to enjoy.
Thanks for reading and any advice would be appreciated.
Long live the dukes.

There has been a recent mod where a 907 has been fitted the streamline of the 906. Seems to fit reasonable. Done by a forum member from Germany this winter. He is also active in the facebook group https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/ducatipasoists/ where you might have a quicker responce on your question. You should ask Helge Raddatz for this mod.

...I bought a basket case (broke down in my driveway when I got it home the day of purchase!) that would have been a good contender for a parts bike, but with a major service, some relays, new tyres and mikuni carbs I've got a reliable daily ride...heck, it even made the calendar! If you can buy one that's been sorted you will have a good bike...as long as it's been looked after. Check the FAQ's...Paso750 (Gerhard) has put together a before purchase check list

If you buy a Paso that may have issues you will find all the soloutions here, there are no real problems with the bike itself ..... just some of the dickheads and self appointed experts who just don't know what they are talking about.
Seriously , Paso's are cool bikes and a hell of a lot easier and cheaper than a lot of other bikes . if you manage your restoration project well you will have a reliable , reasonably cheap, classic bike.

My 906 was my second Ducati. My first was a 74 750GT. Since acquiring the 906 I have also picked up a 907 and a 750. The 906 is still my favorite Paso

The 906 is a great bike and worth holding onto. It has much more character than the Jap stuff. They are built to a formula, New model, update after 3 years, redesign after 5 and the big 4 all do it. What impressed me the most was the styling vs the crude power delivery and sound. Having only owned Jap this was sooo different. I rode a Honda NS400 (3cyl 2 str) before and it had a very smooth engine. With the Paso I can feel the shove each 92mm piston gives. A delight and a refreshing take on motorcycle engineering. Now the tyres are available again the only weak point is the electrics with the standard ignition coils taking way too much power from the loom. A simple swap with some modern coils will solve this. Parts are difficult to find so best not use it day to day, besides, bikes that are 25+ years old and used regularly will wear out, it cant be avoided.

What is an average going price for a 1990 906? There is one locally for sale and the seller is asking for $4200. I haven't seen that many 906's on ebay, but it seems like all the 750 Paso's are going for between $1900 and $3000-ish. Is a 906, presumably its in good shape (ad says needs carbs cleaned and new battery), is $4000 the going price? Thanks.

4K in Canada should get you a low mileage bike ready to ride with new tires, belts and a recent service of record. Anything else and 2500 would be on the high side for a 906. 907ie 4K should get you another ready to ride bike with no issues, less for anything less than ready to go. 4.5 to 5k for a pristine 907. 750 2K would be twice the going rate depending on condition. If it ain't running and it ain;'t legal offer 1k or walk away, there will be another
