I bought a set of 900SS wheels for my 906 last night - want to go the 17" wheel route. The seller threw in the discs, callipers & brake lever for £30, so I'd like to use them too. Has anybody gone down this route already? The first obvious hurdle would be fabricating an adapter bracket to mount the 65mm hole centre calipers - does any one have dimensions? I misspent my youth as a draughtsman, so I'm pretty sure that I could draw up some manufacturing drawings.

if it has the 65mm brakes it should be > `97 as the models before had the 40mm (mounting hole distance) brake calipers

I changed to the 40mm calipers. You can find the info here. I don`t think the 65mm are suitable. They don`t position really good. I have some pictures as I had thought about using either these or the others.

here`s the pic with the 65mm caliper

I have to correct myself. I kept the 16" wheels. If you change also to 17" wheels the 65mm brake will be o.k.. The technical drawings though might help although they are for the 40mm brake and the 280mm disc, regarding offset and fork mount.

Hi Pasochist, thanks for your reply. I think that the adapter drawings that you refer to provide a mount for a 40mm centre 4 pot caliper to a PASO 750/906 fork using a standard 16" wheel & disc. So the fork end of the adapter is usefull, but the caliper end not.

I think that starting from dimensioned drawings for the existing PASO brembo 2 pot and the 4 pot calliper that came from the 900ss (1999 year incidentally), then I could work up a bracket design.

So if any one can direct me to such drawings I'd be gratefull! I'm sure I've seen them on the Interweb soemwhere...

correct. In the link mentioned you also find the drawing of the 65mm brake.

I guess with this, the basic info from the 40mm brake adapter, the knowledge of the Brake disc size it should be possible to draw the correct adapter.

Gerhard,

Thanks for the diagrams, now I just need to fire up AutoCAD and remind myself how it works! :D

great, I overlooked this, but this is keeping the 16" wheels also.
However, moving out the caliper diagonally by 20mm should be it.

Guys, thanks for all the input, no backing out now! Please beer with me now while I balance parental duties, weather proofing the house, earning a living and servicing this paso habit.

Hey Gerhard! That's an excellent and amusing piece of Paso art for your avatar! Your own work?

not really, there`s a french comic series calle Joe Bar.
I found the Paso in an old magazine I scanned for the download section. It was printed on a background so the only thing that took some time was to cut it out nicely in Photoshop.
