I have been having all sorts of issues with the weber carb on my car ( DGAV 32/36 ) .... for 4 years , well the other day ( long story short ) I discovered the carb float was not , it was a sink , or at the very best neutrally buoyant ..... as in it had turned into a sponge and soaked up heaps of fuel. I noticed the difference in weight when I was checking that the float was the same as my spare. Put in the spare float and its a different car. Thing is that every time I put a LARGER jet anywhere it ran better ( still real bad but better ). The crook float looked perfect , and is made of the same stuff as the DCNF carb float ( different shape ) ![]() |

sunk floats is a very common issue with almost all materials used to make them. At least the plastic ones you can see the fuel inside them ![]() |

Do yourself a favor Hamish if you have a gram scale around. Weight the new float and write it down in your manual. Make checking it in the future much easier ![]() |
