Hi everyone/ anyone. I was stupid enough not to check how impossible it is to fit new belts on these things as I've heard so many say it's a 20 minute job. Bollocks. Does anyone have any suggestions whatsoever please ? Is it possible to get the idler pulley out to free up a tiny bit more belt ? Will I have to get the end cap (outer pulley disk/ washer thing) off the cam pulley to expose the side of the pulley teeth ?
If so, I am happy to purchase the necessary tools but am I destined to lose my valve timing ?
I really wish I had never gone down this road as although the old belts have been on there for years they looked fine, I'm now stuck, stuck, stuck. Any help, once again would be more than appreciated.

Thanks, my problem is that these examples are on bikes with "exposed" cam pulleys, ie you can slide the belt on, I am losing out on the height of the pulley teeth which is making it not doable.

when I did my 907 I had the same issue, I struggled a little but in the end I managed to put them on.

the removal was easy, I took the cutter and voila'.

Flanges serve no purpose so next time I will take them out.

Thanks to all, I didn't realise they just pulled off- cheers Derek. Blood pressure also has returned to near normal levels. All is good.

i still have the flanges, i managed to fit the belts while rotating them slowly over the flanges

When you say just pull them off with a pair of pliers, do you mean they will come off the pulley without anything else like bolt removal? I am concerned to just pull something off, it sounds too easy, don't want to damage anything. Sure would like a picture of them coming off to enlighten my slow mind. I need help as I cannot get the new belt over the vertical pulley account of these damn flanges. Thanks.

Ok, I just did a close exam on the pulley and now see that the flange is a narrow "ring" around the pulley and that is what you mean that just pulls off. That is what I will do. Thanks for the help.
