I am looking at the picture that you posted of your forks disassembled above.
They are different from what I have. The stancion tubes are switched in my forks. But then again, I have no history of the forks I have, and the big bolt on the bottom of the forks was only finger tight, so they may have been apart before I got them.

Can anyone confirm or deny that the stancion tubes indeed to go along with the sliders that are pictured above?

Also, any hints as to how to get the forks back together without folding in the top lip of the seal when the slider goes past it?

Here are some pics of my '91 907ie forks. I have tried to lay them out in the basic order that they go together starting with the caps and working inward. The seals and bushings are already installed in the sliders/stanchions and aren't really visible. The seals are 41.7 x 55 x 7.5/10 - Marzocchi #528134. The dust caps are marked with the Marzocchi number 533138.

There are ring clips in each stanchion that separate the top out spring from the valving. These were left in place as they don't need to come out for disassembly. There is also an aluminum valve in the bottom of the rebound leg that is not shown as it was installed before the seals went in.

The third photo shows the valving in the bottom of the stanchion assembled as opposed to disassembled (the tapered spring, body and and 2 rings in the middle of the picture) as in the second photo. The valve is shown with the top facing the camera.

These forks are different from the 750 forks as well as those in the Marzocchi manual on this site. They seem to match the drawing in the 1992 907ie Ducati Service manual also available here. This would suggest that the '91 and '92 are the same.

And you also do only have it in one leg?

I have a set of 907 forks and a set of 750 forks. The 907 have short springs, and really long spacers(200+mm?). The 750 have much longer springs and shorter spacers (35mm?). the affect, I assume, is that the shorter spring makes for a much more progressive spring rate. (assuming the same travel)

Any thoughts on switching springs between the forks? (of course, adjusting the spacer to end up with the same preload)

Yes, there is definately only one aluminum "bushing". It is at the bottom of the spring in the left leg.

I want to repaint mine as part of the restoration of my 907s

Also all the M1R stickers seem to come in green yet the original colour is blue!
I purchased some recently showing green in the ad, but yep, they turned up blue!
So does anyone know if they are sold as original in BLUE???????

both existed. Blue with blue letters and green with red letters. I`ve seen the blue mostly on the 907ie and the green/red on the P750. May depend on model or model year, I don`t know.

If your fork is anthrazite/graphit colour like the one of the P750 you may check Opel graphite metallic 363 as it also matched the lower fairing part of my P750 quite well. As it`s GM the same colour may exist for Vauxhall or Holden (at least for GM Holden year 1995 or 96 there`s a graphite colour 363).
Just be sure what clearcoat you use. I wanted semi mat as forks normally aren`t glossy, but the clearcoat used has a blueish shine to it. It`s ok but a real clear would`ve been better.

The one above looks more flat black though.

I tried ford smoke grey, looked perfect in the colour swatch , but is too light, so for my next fork I will try the GM colour.

ahh also I got my forks back from a service/rebuild. Hence the painting of said forks.
New bushes [BMW] ,
the marzocchi service bulletin - drill the 6mm holes to help oil return, helps with eliminating stiction,
new springs to suit my weight [80kg]
rebound oil 10w
compression oil 5w
oil height 165mm
seals etc

also my Wilbers rear shock to fit, so I will post when its up and running, clutch, brakes - lines and fluid , ear cannon air horn, .................

after painting the legs, you need new stickers to finish it of.
I still have some 907 stickers and they look good.
