Hi Higgy - I'm just putting a new pair of cans on it or Contis so I surely shouldn't have to re-chip it - should I? Please say no.

Rogero - I live in South Kensington in London and I have a home (and garages) in Fishguard but I went to Cardiff Law School and lived in Stacey Road (technically Roath but more like Splot). The Royal Oak on the Newport Road was my local and I rode with the Berserkers MC.

Funnily enough I was dating a Cardiff girl when I had my 750 Paso (she lived in Lakeside Road) and after 20 odd years I have only just met her again - and - meeting her again reminded me of just how much I loved riding the Ducati so she's probably the reason why I bought the Dukes.

My wife doesn't like her . . .

Rhino if you want the bike to go like it should, change the pipes....and change the chip, its the cheapest way to get more ponies to the rear wheel...apart for NOS that is!!

OK Guys
I get the picture BUT it wasn't more horses I wanted it was more noise.
(No objecton to extra horses you understand . . . )

So where do I get either:- the right chip OR
the new pipes AND the right chip.

I am having long and involved discussions with a couple of exhaust pipe companies but they are unanimous in claiming that I do need a chip but there's no chip in existence.

Let's be honest if all I'm doing is fitting a pair of cans do I really need a chip at all?

Help !!

Finally . . .

I have found a guy who can put stainless pipes on my 907IE for £500 - both sides - and have her calibrated on a rolling road and re-chipped if she needs it:-

So have you checked with DOCGB? or did you run across them on your own? Just curious
sounds like a very good price mark. What kind of exhaust? Stainless is heavy and prone to discoloration

this stainless header has a little bit of discoloration but the exaust pipe itself is as good as new 18yrs later, they can be re-polished, which I might do one day.
I think if you run the engine lean it would result in higher exaust temp and more discoloration, but my upgraded chip is a bit on the rich side (black exaust outlet) cooler exaust temp and no problems

Damn but I love this site - fellow addicts all helping each other to feed the need!

Higgy - just mailed my membership form to the DOCGB, they seem like good guys. I ran across NRP Exhausts quite by accident on the web. My previous Paso 750 had "Conti Replicas" were built from stainless by Gazelle 20+ years ago. They no longer exist in Pembrokeshire - sadly - brilliant pipes. As to stainless as a material - I love it and I love the way it discolours. Takes all sorts I guess.

Claude - It is my intention to run it slightly rich - I am only replacing the cans not the entire layout.

Rogero - Want to meet up for a blast next spring once both bikes are fully re-commissioned?

paso907 - Where are you based? What was the cost of your pipes? Did you have to re-chip and if so which chip and from whom?

Loud we Like . . .
