How much electric power does the ECU use of the avaliable?
5,25,50 W or what? Enough to be a problem f other functions?
Or quite little?

My heads seems ported, a friend suggested that they did that at
the factory, true or false?

Did many early 907 have problems w to much heat at exhaust ports,
causing bad valve guides, bent valves, worn seats etc?

Thx, Antti!

Max 180W is alot, what would a realistic figure be, maybe half of that?

Yep, sure are ported. Compared w other heads & f e clearly smoothened around
valve guides.

Valve seats seem to cause major trouble, esp at exhaust ports.
Both mine were in bad shape.

Yes, maybe half of that, but only way to know exact amount of current/power is to measure it with accurate multimeter from bike, what is running normally.

Smoothening around valve guides??? Here porting means, that they make just better angles to valve seat surrondings. They "CAN also" smoothen and add more material to some places inside chanals, but mainly porting is making better flow to valve seats, when valve starts to open!!! Maybe we think little another way of that "porting"... I heard this from guy, who make engines for dragster cars and have very good tools for modifie heads/inlets, valve seats, equipments to measure flowing / cam timing, dyno, etc...So, i trust him with these things. He ported my 907 heads and he only little smoothening chanals, but concentrate to valve seat angles deeply. I am 100% satisfied to his work.

Btw, what chip You had with Conti 2-1 system ???? If original, then i wouldnt be supriced, if exhaust valves/seats were damaged. That Conti system is VERY open and need surely richer mixture... :smoke: As can see, i have started to smoke cigarettes...

Btw, not so bad idea to put new guides same time as valve seats.

One reason to wear seats can be really wrong material what cant handle these new fuels. Those 907 times, this unleaded fuel was quite new thing, so it CAN BE, that they tested many seat materials in factory... some were good and some were bad..maybe!

Yes, your heads where probably ported from the factory. Evidently some bikes came from the factory with "ported" or polished intake tracts. I'm having my engine rebuilt after 50,000 miles due to another problem, but one of the first things the guys at the engine shop asked me was who did the head work on my bike. I have had my bike since new and I have had nothing done to the heads. The mechanic said he had never seen heads ported from the factory so I was interested when I read your post. Does anyone else have comments about why some heads have been "ported and polished" and others have not? Maybe there is a connection about what year and month the bikes with ported heads where made.

I had the E 023 chip, definitely to lean I guess as my exhaust valves, seats etc looked bad.

My heads seems polished around valve guides too.
Clearly less material there than I`ve seen on Monster & SS heads.

What's the chip you have now?
Ciao

Gonna try MyECU.
Maybe you should test on a Dyno w a Lambasond to be sure if Conti w original chip works?

Really, the first thing would be checking the spark plugs...
