Anyone knows if a Showa from 851/888 or carbed 900 SS/Monster fits a 907 -91? Or is it just 907 92-92 that fits, different lenght etc? Has 92-93 907 different yokes than earlier models? I know of the 300/320mm front disc issue. Anyone has a pic of the mudguardfitting of a 907 w Showa? |

Hi Gert, first of all the best wishes and happy kilometers in 2008. regarding fork swap, I think the space in the tank/dashboard is very small for an upside down fork as their upper tubesare much thicker and therefore the triple clamps as well as the Ø 41.7 mm Marzocchi. I have 2 sets of Ø 50 mm Upside down Marzocchi's. They don't fit. As the 907 has 17" wheels the legs may be shorter, but I think the offset is 25 mm. Why swap? I believe with a proper overhaul the orginal fork isn't so bad. Ducbertus |

OK, thx. Didn´t think of that, 41 to 50 & 54mm is a big thing. M1 are a bit harsh. I`m sevicing them for this season, just checking all possibilities f uppgrades etc. |

Hi Gert, There are a lot of things you can do. depending of budget and the originality of the bike you want. you must check the trueness of the legs. no bending or damaging. Also look of the innerlegs are parallel when mounted in the triple clamps. further, when you slide the innerlegs upwards through the lower triple clamp, the must!! slide smoothly in the upper triple clamp. If not, you probably have a bend triple clamp Check the straightness of the front axle. The axle will be about 16.91 mm and the bore of the bearings is 17.00. In my opnion this is to much play. I have altered one time a set of legs to adapt a 20 mm axle, including the machining of this new axle. After drilling it proved to be lighter as a original one. Also look for play in the sliders. The orginal seals and dustcovers are a bit tight, causing stickslip or harshness. one improvement you easily can make is a set of new springs. select progressive ones, as they start softly, but don't block. You also can coat the innertubes with a TiN of DLC coating to reduce friction. Quality of oil is also important. But it all starts with cleaning carefully every part. Ducbertus |
