Hi
When I got my bike, it had already been fitted with open stainless pipes. They had been professionally fitted, which means that the airbox has been drilled to allow for a better airflow, and the chip has been remapped to ensure correct mixture right through the rev range.
As suggested above, check the colour of the plugs before changing, but if in any doubt, get it checked over by your local shop first, as if the mixture is too lean, you run the risk of burning out a valve. Although I had the receipts from the shop that did the tuning, I still had my local guys check it over to make sure everything was on track.
Personally, I love the sound the open pipes make, and it is just a case of not going nuts in a built up area or near the police.
Remember, loud pipes are safer, as people can hear you coming
