Post subject:  Different gauges and some part questions
Well I just picked up a 907ie and I am going to have some fun with it. It is a work in progress but will be going down the road soon. One of the first things I need to look at is the lack of gauges my bike has. Can I or has anyone switched out the gauges for something off of a SS or 851? I like the round look and was wondering how hard it would be to put them on my bike.

P.S. If anyone knows of a parts bike or a place where I can get some stuff new online, I need some little stuff. Here is a short list in order of importance.
Fairing bolts
Coolant res
Headlight
Coolant hoses

Some things that I will need after I get the thing running.
Wire harness
ECU
Throttle body etc.

check the post "ebay search links for Paso parts" by Paso750 at the top of the form for parts links on ebay.
you have to sift thru 10 pages of crap until you find much...but some gems come up once in a while.

there was a set of original gauges here in Australia at the Ducati club a while back.
sort out if you want to go to these or a 900SS style; I can help you locate the originals if you want them.

I just bought some spare new hoses recently from Beemerboy [USA] from this forum.
The hoses were cheap enough but cost a bomb for freight.
I don't need them all; see how you go for local supply and I can help if you're really stuck...my understanding is that the hoses are now unobtanium but some could be made up with some clever cutting.

the filler tank reservoir for the radiator is a problem component. Many split on the seams. You will find lots of posts here on how to try to repair them...be careful about buying a second hand one. I have repaired mine but think it might be easier to splice in a longer hose and run it around then to the top of the insturments as a fill point. Depends on how "original" you want to keep the bike.

the headlights are expensive; probably over $US700 if you can find one.
My local Ducati dealer offered me one as a spare for $AUD1,400.00...I passed.
My understanding is it is the same light on th FZ750 Yamaha.

most of your required parts are problem components; the effort to find them and restore the bike will be rewarded when you ride it - they're just the duck's nuts...good hunting...

Hi Ihoward,

the plastic reservoir is a kind of PE and can be welded.
mine was leaking at the seam to and is welded succesfully by a pro costed me € 15, say $ 25.

Headlight is difficult, watch E-bay motors also in holland and Germany and the UK
i bought recently a Kioto-one (€ 50) and will fit in a few weeks after I return from holiday.

fairingbolts I found at € 1 a piece, but I have to grind down the collar as it is 3 mm thick instead of 1 mm of the orginals. Got them at a local store specialised in fasteners

Hoses? look at Samco. they offer complete sets of a kind of silicon reinforced hoses for any kind of bike in a lot of colours including 907. quality looks like racing.

Gauges? every now and than old stock or used ones show up. last week in Holland new set about € 125
I just missed it as a spare.
But if you want to put in gauges like the 851 incl oil temp, maybe you can find something on the 851/888 forum.

So, I would suggest to get your 907 on the road with minor effort and look over time to get the spares you need at the quality you wand in your own pace.

The coolant res is kind of a PINA because my new bike does not have one :( Used/New I am open to anything!!

The hoses I need to get asap because they are bad and need replacement. I will check out Samco and give them a call and will see what the delear or a local shop can do for me. On the website they do not have any listed for the 907. out of what models they show what would work for a 907? 851,888 are they close enough and will work?

From the gauges I want something a little more sporty that I why I want to see if the SS or likes will work on the bike. That is good to know they do.

Headlight is still up in the air. I have found one at the moment on ebay but we will see what that goes for.

The guy before me was making the bike a 907 monster of sorts. Luckly the parts I speak about are the only ones that I have to really worry about getting or replacing.

Hi Howard,

I'm just returned from Holiday (10 days in France, Normandie)

The 851/888 hose set is pretty close to the 907.
only the tri-port part to the coolant reservoir can be tricky. But try Samco.

An other option is to skip the reservoir.
look at the topics on this page. can be helpfull.

the headlight can be a Yam. FZ 750 '87 of '88. according to some of our Paso-specialist.

I have one week left to awake my 907.
